My partner and I came here at 10:25pm this evening, we were greeted by a lovely lady who offered to take out coats, we opted to sit in the covered smoking area for some cocktails.. beautiful scenery but 15 minutes went passed and our order still hadn't been taken, we both agreed to wait until 10:45pm ... a waiter had... Attentive service and lovely food and wine. Not cheap but a very well run establishment. Ate in the brasserie and as it does not take reservations we arrived 1930 and had no trouble obtaining a table. The atmosphere, with the piano playing and Christmas trees lit up , was delightful . Food delicious and the rum baba always a winner... More

I was invited by a couple and we ate in the brasserie section, We were in a glassed room by the entrance. There is bad and slow, there is very slow and very bad service, and then there was our terrible experience. "It took for ever" is an understatement. The food is NOT good by any standard. We had duckling... More

I spent a lovely evening st the Closerie des Lilas for a special family dinner. Expensive yes , but it did not disappoint. The service was excellent. They were very attentive to the younger members of our group- the only children in the restaurant- and to the adults to whom they spoke in alternating languages. Food was very good also.

Brought my wife here for a Saturday lunch. We were greeted friendly and asked if we wanted the restaurant or the brasserie. We selected the brasserie and weer given a nice table. Service was good, food great and the recommended whote whine to go with the lobster raviole and the fish main course was excellent. Nice Parisienne atmosphere. Will definitely... More

My partner and I spent an entire month in Paris virtually exclusively for visiting the places Hemingway lived, drank, walked parties. This restaurant/bar is one of them, a little over 5 minutes from the site where Hemingway rented his second apartment, although the building has been torn down. We rented an apartment not far down the street. When Hemingway frequented... More

This Paris institution did not disappoint from a food and ambience perspective with one exception. The waiter was not paying attention to the food allergies of one of our party despite being told of said allergies during the ordering process. As a result one of the dishes was served with food the individual was allergic to. If the individual did... More

As you enter the restaurant, there is a small area where fresh seafood is being prepared. So unique. We ate in the brasserie (less expensive, more casual side). There is a piano bar in the middle so we enjoyed music throughout our meal. Our waiter was so thoughtful and provided amazing service. The food was outstanding as well. We ordered... More

I was recommended the Brasserie option rather than the formal restaurant and had an incredible experience. Food great throughout and we had a variety of dishes on our table of 6. Nice ambiance helped with a pianist and immaculate and friendly service from the staff. Couldn't fault it.

We love this establishment - and make a point of visiting every October if we can.Its a great place for an early drink before dinner - which can be in either the bistro or more formal restaurant .Its also a great place for a late cocktail after a dinner. Not cheap but a bit of old Paris in all it glory.

In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères.
