Situated on the Left Bank, a mere block away from the Musee d'Orsay, La Fregate is perfectly situated for museum-goers. I wish it had been Spring, because I would have loved to have dined al fresco. Nevertheless, there were seats outdoors for those willing to brave the cold (I wish they did this in NYC). A standard dish of salmon... More

What a great restaurant this is. Don't be put off what appears to be a more formal dining environment; they also had a great range of sandwiches and light lunches in traditionally French surroundings. Best Croque Monsieur I had in Paris and the cheapest.

Great Oyster menu, really fresh, we had a table by the window right opposite the Louvre, I had Oysters with a glass of Pouilly Fume, followed by Crepes. Waiter was helpful and friendly, great service. Would definitely go back next time in Paris

After being outside shopping for hours on a beautiful sunny but cold January Day in Paris we were cold and hungry. Onion soup, frites and coffee at La Fregate warmed us up nicely. The service was excellent and prices moderate. I'd like to try it again for dinner sometime.

This was a walk-in visit on a Saturday afternoon. The decor is classic Parisian and the service is first class friendly French etiquette. We had two excellent mains before sharing a fruit pie desert and enjoying the excellent coffee on offer. Very reasonably priced for central Paris and very enjoyable.

Delicious light lunch after visiting the Louve. We had 2 bowls French onion soup which was very good & chicken Caesar salad. The baguette was very good. 2 hot teas & 1 glass of Bordeaux & it was 45 euros. Our server Laurent was very friendly.

I booked this restaurant for New Year's Day because of the positive reviews on Tripadvisor. What a disappointment. I was looking forward to a steak and frites dinner but they were out of steak. They were also out of the chestnut soup that was on the menu. The food we did order took a long time to arrive and was... More

A late lunch was a delight at this old style brasserie. A super oyster menu and the molluscs were equal to it. Nice service and comfortable. I only wish they'd ban mobiles.

when this is you last day in Paris. Where to go? To a Michelin-like restaurant? no We selected La Fregat because it has all the French cuisine items we crave for: oysters (amazing) and escargot. The rest of what we ordered is not important, yet not less tasty.

Found this spot after spending the morning at Musee D'Orsay. Was fine, but expensive for the food quality and service could be generously characterized as brusque. Risotto accompanying Coquilles St. Jacques was reminiscent of Rice-A-Roni and oysters were suspected of causing my son's 24 hour GI upset. Overall, it was fine but wouldn't go out of my way.
