We had been waiting many, many years to visit Tour d'Argent in Paris as we live in Australia The reservation process was so friendly and efficient (even to a wonderful view) and everything was spot on Four of us had a wonderful experience Staff were fantastic with none of the stuffiness etc we thought may be there in such a historic... First visit to this famed and ancient restaurant. I went as a guest. Location, with view to Seine and Notre Dame, superb. Service from the front door to the table impeccable. Amazing wine list and cellar with third of a million bottles. But the food, including my identified duck, didn't match the place - it was cool, rather than hot;... More

La Tour d'Argent is the legendary Left Bank Parisian restaurant with breathtaking views of the Seine, the Notre Dame and the Ile St.-Louis. For decades under the tutelage of Claude Terrail, a great impresario of the hospitality business, it reigned supreme, boasting three Michelin stars for decades. In 1996 it lost its third star and after Terrail's death it was... More

This French establishment specializes in duck. The setting overlooking the seine offers tremendous views. The staid presentation was admirable as was about everything else, however, the duck entree failed to impress me. I recommend coming here once to experience classic French cuisine with all its charms.

Tour D'Argent was excellent, providing classic french food and service in a very luxurious atmosphere. It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to dine here, with its extensive history.

Great food and great service is becoming more and more common in great restaurants, so choices often reflect price, location, and taste. For a classic duck, amazing views, and top, top service, you really can't go wrong. Whether you think a bowl of soup is worth $75, well, that's another thing.

We have been eating at La Tour d'Argent for 30 years and each visit has been a huge treat. HOWEVER, we returned this past weekend and the experience has changed dramatically. Although we had the best table in the house, with stunning views, they have changed their menu somewhat. The whole purpose of visiting this restaurant is to savour the... More

It's like stepping back a century. Foie gras with a sweet white wine, pressed duck (Caneton Frédéric Delair) with a premier cru Nuits-St-George. Wine selected from a list of approximately 15,000 different bottles. Finish with a fine Armagnac. Classical.

I know that many people rave about this restaurant which is a must in Paris but I have to admit that I was totally disappointed. First of all, the service was very "stiff" and haughty. The view from any table is spectacular but a restaurant is supped to be about the food first and foremost and this is where this... More

Staying in Odeon / Saint-Michel

Neighbourhood Profile
Odeon / Saint-Michel
As the bustling center of entertainment for the residents of the Rive Gauche, the activity at Odéon never stops. Boulevards are lined with traditional cafes, restaurants, and boutique cinemas. The streets surrounding the fountain at Saint-Michel provide eateries from around the world. Lively bars are just next door and the prototypical terraced French brasserie is on every corner. The setting for this area is second to none; the Haussmann-style boulevards are contrasted by monumental architecture and overshadowed by the iconic Notre Dame, all within a moment’s walk from the Seine. This neighbourhood's world-famous bookshops, cafés, and streets will not fail to impress you.
