Pot au feu, boiled beef, taffelspitz, bulalo, pho. Almost every country and culture has its own version. Inexpensive flavorful cuts of beef boiled to fork tenderness with vegetables and soup. May seem very simple, getting the soup to consommé like levels require a lot of skill and patience. Le Roi is one of my must stops every time I'm in... More

One for meat-lovers! This is one of my favourite eateries in Paris, as it's very near my usual hotel in the 9th arondissement, and perfect for lunch/dinner before or after a day of shopping at the nearby Printemps and Galeries Lafayette department stores. Especially enjoyable in winter, when the steaming, rich hearty broth and generous chunks of meat and vegetables... More

I was looking forward to a traditional type French stew, but disappointed as it lacked flavour. On the evening we visited, there was only a choice of two main dishes.

Settings were perfect... cold wintery evening in décember. A traditional Nice but crowdy Paris Bistro. The bouillon as starter and The pot-au-feu were excellent! Nice tender tastefull meat. Delicious bouillon! Rightly cooked wintervegetables. It was so long since i had Os-a-moelle... so i réally enjoyed this very greasy but tasty sin ! Not for every week, but once in a... More

This extremely charming restaurant characterises real Cuisine Française! The restaurant menu revolves around one of the best Pot au Feu you will find (maybe competing with mum's cooking!) The tucked away restaurant with its typical French table cloths and narrow tables is just the right charming atmosphere to enjoy your meal. A place not to miss in Paris.

We visited this place when we shopped at Printemps and made a brake. They serve only dishes from meet as main coarse, not fish not vegetarian. The taste is OUTSTANDING. 20E per plate. The vine is little bit expensive, but probably Printemps is too close.

Nice place to sit to taste traditional French dishes like "pot au feu" for which lots of tourists usually come. Quality is good, service is quick. Worth trying it if you don't know at all this specialty. I recommend it.

My sister remembered this restaurant when she ate there several years ago. It was the Pot au Feu - boiled beef with cabbage and carrots. Is this not a taste of French home cooking? A slice of bone with marrow is included in the bowl. One is supposed to scoop out the marrow and spread it on a piece of... More

I write in English but I am french and even more (a real parisian).. i want you ("stranger") to enter in this restaurant to have an idea of the french cliché about restaurants you are always running after.. Not only you will have a typical french experience, but the food is so good and i hope, if you are lucky,... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
