The ambience is relaxed, the staff are friendly and the food is delicious. It's informal, relaxed and very nice. Not expensive either. Their Croustillante de Banane is incredible! I keep coming back for it.

I ordered the Grande Salade Fermiere described as turkey, corn, tomatoes, lettuce, and hard boiled eggs. What could possibly go wrong??? I did not count on the horrible salad dressing slopped all over the dish. I am certain it had cinnamon in it. And one of the tomato slices was clearly leftover from another meal, another plate. I simply could... More

This bar has a good feel to it. The staff were friendly and courteous. The food was good and the beer good and cold.... It is situated on a street that is wide enough to let you sit outside without the feeling of being in the road....

French friends brought us, we loved it! The food is typical French, tasty and very good - homemade at the place. Atmosphere, local place where it's not possible to reserve a table. Staff is adding an extra positive layer. Try it when in Paris!

I can highly recommend this restaurant. We went there during our time in Paris and stumbled upon it whilst in Belleville waiting for the Bastille day fireworks to start. I can highly recommend this restaurant! The host was very good and engaged in conversation whilst recommending drinks and food. He even offered us a complimentary shot of rum when we... More

I have to say the service was excellent. Faster, more attentive and helpful than one normally expects in Paris. My wife and I both had poulet roti, hoping for a typical bistro meal. However, the chicken was covered with a spicy, tomato based sauce. Not bad, but not typical. I would return here for a coffee or glass of wine... More

At the recommendation of our hosts, my husband and I chose Le Zephyr for a Sunday supper during our recent trip to Paris. Right from the start Le Zephyr had two things going for it: a location near our hotel in the 19th arrondissement, and open on Sunday night, when few other restaurants were. Happily, Le Zephyr added excellent food,... More

An old fashioned type of brasserie. One of the most genuine ones in Paris very good food and wines. Service is also very pleasant

Staying in Belleville / Pere Lachaise

Neighbourhood Profile
Belleville / Pere Lachaise
At the eastern edge of Paris lies Belleville / Père Lachaise, an understated wonderland of local treasures. Alongside the world-famous cemetery, family-owned delicatessens and cafés nestle between local stores and establishments. The richness of the population here has created a little Chinatown of Asian restaurants, and the area comes to life at night by a funky underground scene. Façades change from one street to another as one passes from white walled provincial homes to tall blocks and reconverted homes. The whole area is an inspirational mix of people from all corners of the world frequented by artists, students, immigrants, and Parisian families. Once home to supporters of the Paris commune, its rebellious nature is now offset by its rural charms.
