Now this is how to experience a true french bar, a tiny buzzing spot where eclectic locals seem to stream in and out and have a drink or two at the bar. Lots of noisy characters and hand waving. There are only about ten seats out on the street and the area around the semi-circular bar is often hectic and... More

This place has two sites on the same side of the street. We were in the bigger, less cramped one on the same side of the street. We had the lunch with two courses for 16.50 Euro. You were able to choose from salad or soup as a starter. We had the lamb for maincourse which was perfectly cooked and... More

Every time we go here we have an amazing time. We had been to a jazz club on the rue de Rivoli and decided on a nightcap... Trying for a taxi outside the bar at 1pm had us sharing bicycles with locals. You don't find this in the guide books

Took a respite from a busy day in Le Marais to have a couple of drinks at this tiny, quintessential french cafe. Perfect spot for that or a quick bite.

It is like coming back to a well know and loved place, you will find people you did not know but after a moment you have the impression they were friends from old time and the food is food to eat with taste of what your mam was cooking and next time in Paris you come back

Sometimes you just want the cliche - a traditional Parisian bistro that knows what it's doing because it's been doing the same thing for years and has no intention of ever changing whatever the lastest food fads. The interior is an absolute delight. Don't be put off by the seemingly small seating area in front of the bar; there is... More

Met me a friend who lives in Paris at this charming restaurant on our first night in Paris only to return each night until we left. Its the most charming little gem, almost like going back to the early 1900's in Paris. The food is delicious (try the duck), the drinks perfect, and the service friendly and charming. Perfect for... Le Petit Fer a Cheval is an authentic little bar/restaurant in Le Marais. Simple but delicious food. Great wine. Ideal for dinner or for just a bottle of wine and some french cheese. There is no menu in english though so be prepared to improvise.

This is a perfect little restaurant/bar with only a handful of tiny tables and a small horseshoe shaped bar. Warmly greeted and welcomed by the bar man and a couple of locals enjoying a cheese board we felt relaxed straight away. Specials scribbled on the open door just added to the un pretentious, rustic, chilled out, traditional French Vibe. A... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
