Met me a friend who lives in Paris at this charming restaurant on our first night in Paris only to return each night until we left. Its the most charming little gem, almost like going back to the early 1900's in Paris. The food is delicious (try the duck), the drinks perfect, and the service friendly and charming. Perfect for... Le Petit Fer a Cheval is an authentic little bar/restaurant in Le Marais. Simple but delicious food. Great wine. Ideal for dinner or for just a bottle of wine and some french cheese. There is no menu in english though so be prepared to improvise.

This is a perfect little restaurant/bar with only a handful of tiny tables and a small horseshoe shaped bar. Warmly greeted and welcomed by the bar man and a couple of locals enjoying a cheese board we felt relaxed straight away. Specials scribbled on the open door just added to the un pretentious, rustic, chilled out, traditional French Vibe. A... More

The place is full of locals, which means the food and service is great. And the prices are cheap compared to other places on the same level

didnt eat here but watched the world go by at a streetside table and enjoyed a pre-dinner drink. I love the concept of drinks being cheaper if you stand at the bar rather than sit at the tables. Very french! We chose to sit to watch the Marais inhabitants in all their glory. This is a small bar / brasserie... More

A nice small place with an almost hidden back serving area which is obscured by the bar. The service was prompt and the staff friendly and accommodating. That is will to serve any thing on the menu at reasonable times. The food is french comfort food. My friends had the plat detour and my wife and the fish. They found... More

A small old fashioned restaurant in a maze of bars and noisy restaurants. If you are not very hungry you can have a sandwich or soup while your companions enjoy a full meal. There is a horse shaped bar with nary another tourist in sight.

wonderfully friendly staff, a bar that appears unchanged in many decades; we love to sit at a table on the pavement watching the world go by through a pichet of sancerre and demolishing a plate of pate and assorted cheeses. a marvellous watering-hole

I always return to Le Petit Fer a Cheval, located at what feels like the epicenter of the neighbourhood around the lively rue Vieille du Temple. This time it was a hot, Sunday afternoon and we were lucky to get a table outside to watch the world go past as we snacked on a sandwich and a salad whilst sipping... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
