Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Small restaurant, quite distant from tourist areas. But if you are looking for some genuine French food, this is the place for you. Not fancy, but the food is so tasty, and portions are just huge! The setup is not great, old furniture, but the...place worth a visit!More

I was attracted by the menu with traditional french dishes, cassoulet, tripoux and others. With a large group, we were able to share the different appetizers. Main courses are really huge. The staff is very charming and quick service. By seeing the chicken I realize...that they do not cook there, mainly dressing and heating. This is a restaurant where you enjoy the company and large portion than the quality of the kitchenMore

It was perfect, no one being too loud besides the place being full, servers who are always there to help and serve fast. Fast and delicious food. Nice vibe and overall a great place to go eat.

Great food and decent prices however the staff are extremely rude and were hostile towards us. Abrupt member of staff working FOH who was rude from the moment we entered the restaurant, another then proceeded to push a table and chair into my leg whilst...I was sat eating to only say “pardon” once I turned around to see what was happening. Would generally avoid unless you were desperate !More

I loved Chez Papa when I visited Paris 20yrs ago. And I was excited to take my family to a place I loved so much in the past. Sadly I think this place has seen better days. The menu is huge (never a good sign),...and there are no locals here (also a bad sign). There is an all pervading feeling that this place is dying a slow and undignified death. The foie gras was tasteless and super salty. The other meals were well proportioned but lacking any attention to detail. The fried potatoes were very greasy, but my wife liked her salad. Based on the huge menu and the lack of customers here at 6:30pm on a Sunday evening it had me wondering how fresh the ingredients could be. I think this place could be great again , but looks like the locals have voted with their feet at the moment and deserted Chez Papa.More

Having had repeated disappointments in Parisian tourist trap restaurants I thought that I had moved sufficiently afield. The app said “closed” until tomorrow- perhaps I should have believed it! It was open as I passed. The duck breast slices - undercooked. The sautéed potatoes -...clearly from another day - and only tepidly microwaved. Creamed leeks were creamy and cold. The Premieres Cote de Baye (red) - well, I emptied my water glass several times before the wine glass. Finally, the sorbet dessert - well, it’s difficult to mess that up - except by serving it melted - and they succeeded. Your 4 out of 5 stars here - I simply cannot understand.More

There are quite a few Chez Papa around and the menu looked quite tempting, if you like South West (France) cooking, so when a friend visited, I thought it would be a good opportunity to try the chain. We booked, which was smart because the...restaurant filled up quite quickly on Friday night. The tables are close together, so you get to enjoy everyone around you’s conversations. The menu is very long and focused on duck and duck fat, as well as beef cooked in duck fat, which are all excellent concepts. There is no light option, especially not the salads. Prices are reasonable and the servings are huge (they will pack up what you can’t eat). But the dishes themselves aren’t that great. They are fine but nothing more. The burger has lots of good bits but the overall effect isn’t delicious. Same for the salads, lots of ingredients that should be taste bombs but they just weren’t. If I want good south west cooking, I know better places for next time.More

Great experience with a group of US students tonight. The staff was friendly, patient and adapted to any special needs: allergies, extra guests... Tasty food at reasonable prices for the area. I recommend it!

We ordered duck fillet (with potatoes) and duck from oven&fried (with potatoes). They were both awful! We couldn't eat more than half and also couldn't properly digest it ... doubt even if food was cooked that same day...

I visited here in March with my son. I had a truly excellent steak much to my surprise as i do not usually find they prepare steak to m liking. it was tender and well cooked...and huge 350gm! my son had duck and it was...super. Even I was jealous, and lots of it too! The service was super quick and very friendly to us Brits. They joked with us about Liverpool which is always fun. Definitely would recommend. My French friend who lives nearby is a regular, and he know his restaurants!More
