I was looking for an elegant but not over-the-top spot for a dinner in Paris, and came across a recommendation for Boutary. Overall, it was a lovely experience, with a few small caveats [more on that below]. The food itself was really, really good -...with attention to detail both on the taste and the visual side. Their specialty – the caviar – that they cultivate at the Black Sea coast was quite pleasant and reminded of childhood flavors (before it became the "extravagance" it is today). The service was a tad distracted at times, with a few faux pas that they fixed quickly and readily. While the service all up might need a bit more polishing for the place to qualify for a Michelin star, I have to say that, compared to my subsequent meals in Paris, the team at Boutary was by far the most friendly and accommodating, especially Frédéric. The place is small but elegant (with lots of red, which I don't mind but it might be not to everyone's taste), and is tucked away in a side street off the main tourist tracks in Saint Germain des Pres, so it is quiet and cute. Circling back to the food, among the things that stood out to me on the 7-course version of the tasting menu was the dessert: between the two options, I decided to go with the Cuban-themed chocolate one that may have sounded exotic but turned out to be delightful. I was not sure how I felt about the promise of an infusion of cuban cigar smoke and mojito in a dessert but was beyond pleasantly surprised. Quite a high note to end the dinner on, and clearly showed the chef's mastery in this department. All in all, a very pleasant evening.More

My wife and I were treated to a special culinary experience at the Boutary. The atmosphere was elegant but relaxing. The front of the house could not have made our experience more enjoyable. They were welcoming, professional, knowledgeable, had just right amount of humor and...were not intrusive. The cuisine was elegantly presented, innovative, and every bite of their tasting menu was sublime. Of all the meals we ate in Paris, the Boutary was the most memorable. We commend it to others who are looking for a culinary experience and memories that last.More

We had a fantastic experience at Boutary. The food was excellent and the team could not have been better. They even went above and beyond and recommended/got us a table at a nearby cocktail bar for an evening drink after dinner. Next time I am...in Paris, I will certainly be back.More

Last night we had our best meal ever in Paris! Our concierge had Boutary on its short list of recommendations, and the reviews are accurate. This restaurant was better than any we have eaten in on multiple trips to Paris, including 1 and 2 starred...restaurants. It was the complete package- staff, setting, food quality and preparation, wines, and food presentation. Frédéric was the server with whom we dealt the most, and he is friendly, passionate and knowledgeable. The rest of the staff were all very comfortable in dealing with us and explaining the dishes. The food itself was beautiful, and exactly the right portion size- for 7 courses we like small sizes, but with strong and interesting flavors. I wine paired as well, with the premium pairing. The pricing (as with the food) is far below the value you receive. We know wines fairly well, but there were 2 or 3 revelations and additions to our wine experience. I also had the caviar optional starting sample, and absolutely loved their house caviar. All of the staff were comfortable in English, although the night we were there it was a about an even split of French, and North Americans and some other nationalities dealing with the staff in English. Do yourself a favor and go, before it gets truly discovered.More

Boutary came highly recommended from a family member and exceeded expectations. We had the 5 course dinner with a wine pairing and the food was absolutely delicious! The staff was kind and knowledgeable and went out of their way to provide an incredible experience. They...even gave a complimentary dessert to celebrate my fiancée’s birthday! This is a must visit while in Paris if you’re looking for a unique dining experience with an emphasis on cavier.More

I booked this restaurant based off of its reviews, so it’s only fair that I leave one myself. What an amazing dinner experience!! We went to celebrate my mother’s birthday and ordered a started of caviar and the 7-course menu with wine pairing. Everything was...delicious and the wine was excellent! It really is a “boutique” restaurant that provides incredible service in a relaxed environment. The restaurant was full but quiet enough for us to enjoy ourselves, and we enjoyed ourselves so thoroughly, we were almost the last ones to leave! I highly recommend adding this restaurant to your list of musts!More

The Boutary is an essential stop in Paris for anyone who appreciates excellence of cuisine and fine wines. The chef, who hails from Brittany, masters a tasting menu of fish, seafood, and meat, along with a quality of caviar I haven't tasted elsewhere. The service...is always impeccable and the wine pairing chosen by Frédéric enables you to discover previously unknown gems that complement the meal perfectly. My fourth visit and I can't wait for my fifth.More
