We visited this restaurant for our last night in Lille. It wasn’t our first choice but our original choice was fully booked. We were a party of nine and we decided to eat outdoors on the pavement tables. Menu was limited but supplemented by specials board. The salmon carpaccio and pave rump steak were both very good and mains served with plenty of side vegetables. Service whilst slow (very busy) staff sought to keep up with our party of 9. Would recommend on a hot summer evening as you can experience the vibe of Lille at night as location is just off one of the main squares. Happy to go again.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. The restaurant is narrow and so tables are closer together. But the food was superb. Limited menu but what they have as a meat eater was great. My wife and I shared the board of charcuterie and fromage to start. All lovely. Then I had the rump steak and my wife had the vegetarian quiche. Portions were large and we couldn't manage dessert but the profiteroles that passed our table looked great. The staff were friendly, patient and effecicient with a warm welcome. The crowd included a family with a young baby and they interacted to make everyone feel welcome. Would recommend but book in advance because tables are limited.

In Lille over an April weekend to watch Paris Roubaix. Le Pot Beaujolais (situated just off the main square) was our choice for a Friday evening meal. We walked past the restaurant en route to our accommodation and it jumped out at us - it looks like the sort of restaurant you'd find in rural France, rather than in the middle of a city. Having just arrived in the town, we had no reservation but the very friendly staff found us a table. Dishes are traditional French (steaks, andouillette, stew). I planned to order the Pot au feu but it wasn't available so settled on a delicious Pike quenelle in leek fondue. The charcuterie/cheese board we shared as a starter was also good, as was the apple pie for dessert. It's very easy in Lille to find a chain restaurant or modern bistro, particularly in the centre of town. It's probably harder to find a 'little gem' - Le Pot Beaujolais is definitely the latter.

We last called in here about 14 years ago and had a great meal. I’ll never forget the salad Beaujolais that I had back then. Unfortunately it is no longer on the menu we were presented with this weekend when six of us returned to the restaurant for the first time. The place is busy and full of locals which, I understand, is a good sign. Unusually, all six of us opted for the same starter which was the Terrines de Maison. I think I would be right in stating that we all enjoyed it. I particularly liked the red onion confit. For main courses, two of us, including me, had the onglet steak. I like mine reasonably well done which is generally anathema to French chefs. However, on this occasion it was done just right. It was excellent, especially when accompanied by Dauphinois potatoes, carrots and baked fennel with a little dish of shallot butter sauce. Colleagues had the vegetarian quiche. The food was good, the atmosphere was good and so was the wine. Definitely somewhere we will return to next time in Lille.

Wow. This restaurant was a find I will never forget. In amongst all the glammed up places and the Americanised diners, there's this honest beautiful little restaurant that could be in a village somewhere deep in rural France. It's an absolute oasis amongst the bustle of the city. The food was fantastic. The pot au feu would feed half an army! Steak - perfect! I so enjoyed our meal here on my birthday weekend. The staff were lovely and everything is very reasonably priced. An absolute gem that I'm heading straight back to next time I'm in Lille.

Staying for just one night in Lille we had searched for what might be a 'local' restaurant and Le Pot Beaujolais was on our list - and when we realised it was directly opposite the front door of our hotel (Carlton Hotel, which we have also reviewed) it was a no-brainer. Although we didn't have a booking we were immediately found a nice, intimate table for 2. Apart from the menu there was a 'specials' board and of course a wine list. It's all in French but with a combination of our limited French and Google translate we knew what was on offer - more or less! We shared a meat and cheese platter as a starter - all delicious. I had lamb kebabs for the main course and my wife had the pot au feu - large pieces of beef cooked in a large pot (about twice the size my wife was expecting) with the vegetables. Both very tasty and cooked well. Puddings were, well, heart attacks in a dish. We had a 45cl caraffe of wine to go with the meal, it was very good. And at the end the total cost was very reasonable. Very pleased we found this restaurant and would definitely go again.

The food at this restaurant was lovely - typical northern French. Obviously home made, and the staff were more than pleasant. It was at the top of my price range - but I'm glad I tried it.

A restaurant not for the faint hearted. Typical French specialities like veal kidney and andouille (a French sausage made of intestines) . The atmosphere is very local and intimate. Plenty of open wines. For 50€ you have a great meal and good wine

This small unpretentious bistro is well worth a visit. There is seating on two floors and we arrived without a booking so they were able to fit us in. The very helpful waitress guided us through the menu as our french was limited. The portions were very generous and cooked very well. We both cleared our plates so there is greater compliment. I would definitely recommend this place.

My boyfriend looked at reviews and booked this restaurant for us for a Saturday night on a weekend away, and boy did it not disappoint! The restaurant is very traditional and rustic, no frills but perfect all the same. Everything on the menu is in French (as it should be!), but we had help answering any questions from the lovely waitress, who also helped us out with recommending wine. The wine choice was great and the service friendly. We were getting food envy from the other tables, but our choices did not disappoint in the slightest - I had the onglet steak and my boyfriend had the pork with lentils (pictures attached of both). I asked for my steak medium/rare and it was cooked to absolute perfection. Both dishes were more than substantial portions and mouth wateringly good. Nothing was left on our plates, so unfortunately we did not have room for any dessert. It is also great value for the food quality you get. I think our dishes plus 2 glasses of (great) wine each cost around €55. I would 100% be booking in here again if I'm every back in Lille. This restaurant only lets you sit down and eat, you cannot go back for a drink, so make the most of your table, order another glass of win and enjoy this place whilst you can. You will walk out very happy and extremely satisfied!

"Tradional French restaurant" could be a very damning phrase, but they actually do it very well. They are very welcoming, it's good food, they clearly attract locals but are very open to tourists as well. Terrines Maison, Saumon Duo, Pave Rumsteck to share. Rose wine. €57 total - incredible!

I just looked for something sounding near my hotel, and this place has charmed me immediately with its local country selection. It looked heavier than I would normally expect in France for a dinner but so delicious that I did not hesitate for joining it once again for another night (even my stay in Lille was very short). That other time I chose a completely different menu (soup for entrée, pork for the main and the place speciality for desert), and it was again irresistibly good. Surprisingly, I managed to get there twice without reservation (something normally done for this place). I am looking forward to my next visit in Lille!

I was here on a Saturday evening with my wife, and walked in without reservation on their opening at 7pm. No problem getting a table, but by 8pm they were full. Younger staff spoke English, were very helpful, they had an English menu, which they readily offered. Definitely not ‘touristy’, many locals. Their Beaujolais cocktails were sublime, their menu traditional Northern French/Flemish, hearty food. Will make it our first restaurant of choice on any subsequent visit to Lille.
