This is a lovely resto/deli next to the Place au Pommes in the heart of Bayeux. No the owner is not Italian but spirit, food and wine are all certainly in the mixThere are all kinds of lovely options on the menu. The service is...charming and the food is very good. Some may find it a bit pricey and they would be right. Parking is easy there is always the option of buying products to take home. Their tartare is excellent, cut by hand in true Italian style. There is not an enormous number of tables so it is always best to book.More

This is a lovely little Italian deli which also serves food at lunchtime. There are a couple of tables with high stools inside the shop and half a dozen tables outside (so not really a winter destination). The pasta is very good and my husband...tried steak tartare (raw minced steak) here for the first time and it was really good. Friendly staff.More

L'oliverade is a little gem. A wonderful Italian deli - a rarity itself in provincial France, with fantastic fresh pasta and anti-pasti to take away but also a great lunchtime eatery. This place is only open at lunchtimes and only has about 10 seats inside...but about 20-25 outside. My husband had charolais steak tartare with tagliatelle and green salad which, although a slightly strange combination, was outstanding. I had chicken ravioli with green salad and balsamic dressing. It was a refreshing change from standard, creamy norman cuisine and I will certainly be taking visiting friends there in a few weeks time, as well as returning ourselves whenever we visit Bayeux. The added bonus is that because we bought food from the deli we can recreate the experience ourselves again tomorrow evening!More

If you are visiting the Tapistry in Bayeux and want a great lunch then skip all the over priced tourist places . There is a car park next to this super wine shop / restaurant . We parked there and fortunately noticed it and decided...to eat there on the way back . We had the pasta of the day and an Italian salad , both were perfect , the service and ambience were just right and it is very reasonably priced . I cannot believe there are not more reviews .More

Update for L'Oliverade. They have now moved premises, just across the road from the original restaurant. The restaurant now has more seating but the quality and service is as good as ever. I eat there with a vegetarian friend, who delights in eating something different...to omlette and chips which is the usual 'vegetarian option' in this area!More

Your choice of three menus, two of homemade pasta, the other a plate of homemade antipasi, which is what I chose. The meal comes with bread, a glass of wine, then dessert (a selection of Italian cakes, also exquisite), and coffee or tea. All this...for 12€, making it a great deal for Bayeux. There's also a decent child's menu. The restaurant can seat 12; it's set in the shop, which offers Italian and other fine foods. Highly recommend this place. The owner clearly loves what she does and gives great advice on products.More
