Choucroute de poissons is really disgusting. Sour stewed cabbage with four kinds of fish, 3 of which which are not tasty, and 4 different types of shrimps, just to make the dish more expensive. 20 euros for this dissappointment (( Fish soup was good, and the portion was big. Waiter crushed one of the wine glasses, changed and cleaned only... More

Another seemingly ordinary glass shack (Brassiere) on the street but serving absolutely superb food. I don't believe there is a poor chef in France and am determined to do my best to find out for sure. This one stands out not just because of the food but also because of the waiting staff. They were there at the right time... More

We've always eaten in the Vaugeux quarter in Caen but thought we'd give the Marina a try. Many of the restaurants are quite frankly tourist traps, but those behind the Marina are better and we were attracted to La Planche A by its varied and extensive menu. Having eaten rather a lot over the previous fortnight we thought we'd try... More

....in every way. So many restaurants to choose from in the locality - fortunately we chose to use this one. Arrived early but made to feel so welcome. Cheerful friendly service - excellent menu choices. We ate a 'la carte' and were amazed at the quality of the food and the cooking, the beautiful presentation and size of the portions!!... More

Beautifully prepared plates, almost largish portions of Nouvelle Cuisine. Additions of a suede puree, beautifully prepared Baked potatoes with a creamy filling and mayo, (on all dishes) added to the aura. A broad spectrum on the menu. The assiette to start was enough for a meal for two of us....the main course , mine a St. Jacques and Mussels gratin,... More

Found this restaurant via Trip advisor and as good as all the reports. The waiter was excellent and a great host. The food was exceptionally good value for the price, we all had the more expensive fixed menu which was extensive in choice and excellent quality. Mussels starter and fish platter main was just excellent, with everything cooked perfectly. The... More

We have visited La Planche on our way to the ferry a couple of times; consistently good value bistro type food near to the old docks. Excellent sea food on the good value set menus.

Arrived with very poor French and a little tentative, needn't have worried, welcomed to the table, menu explained in perfect English, free apetiser, which was beautiful, we had oysters to start I had mussels with chips my husband had fish gratin all beautifully fresh, looked and tasted fabulous, would definitely go again great value for money .
