Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This has to be the closest restaurant to the Chateau Saumur - the view from our table was Ike a postcard. The 7 of us arrived on a bustery Thursday at 12:30 in October and were one of the few large tables but can imagine...it is also can be totally full on a sunny Sunday. Plan accordingly as most cafes close from 2-5pm daily. We dotted both prix fix and ala Carte. Highlights were the escargot en croute, a crispy chicken salad and the fish of the day. Best cream brûlée we had all trip- and did I mention the view?More

Captive audience next to the Chateau...but ok for all of that. We just had a beer as it was still quite early. No, it's never that early

We took some friends here for lunch as a first impression of Saumur, six of us booked in advance and were not disappointed with quick, friendly service. A variety of Plat du Jour, Poulet with Veg and Burger was enjoyed all at a very reasonable...price. Great choice !More

Great place, with well sized and good looking plates and a dish of the day at a very good price. Social distances, cleanliness at all time. The terrasse was a bit windy this day but looks very welcoming. Waiters are at the top, friendly and...English speakers.More

The menu looked great, we had checked opening times on their web site, so happy to see they were open non stop. However when we arrived we were told only omelettes or french fries, you could have drinks, tea, coffee and desserts I was told ....We were hungry so plain omelettes and fries, cold beer fast and friendly service. The view is stunning looking back on Saumur.More

We visited here 26 years ago and remembered the view and the drink. The view hasn't changed. We ordered a Croque Monsieur and a Goats Cheese Salad. The Salad won. The cheese toast was okay, nothing special. The chips were frozen extruded potatoes in a...scoop profile. There were okay, but why not use real potatoes. The difference is worth it. The salad was brilliant. An idea salad, for me, has lot of interesting ingredients in order to make every mouthful different and tasty. This did it. So, I can recommend.More

We had a lovely lunch here before a visit to The Chateau. After struggling with google translate to understand the menu with our embarrassingly poor french, the waitress very kindly explained what was on offer. The food was delicious, and very well presented. We wouldn’t...hesitate to recommend.More

Our large tour group dined at L'Orangeraie on a week night and found the food and view worthy of the castle. Our menu consisted of smoked salmon in dill citron sauce was delicious, Blanquette of veal al la Saumuroise was tender and tasty with wild...rice and mixed veggies and dessert of tarte tatin with vanilla sauce seemed a little stale. Service staff was prompt. Parking at the castle was at a poorly lit distance from the restaurant. If you are looking for a restaurant for a special occasion with good food, this is the place.More
