Bar Andre is where the elite meet to eat in La Rochelle and it's not hard to see why. The food is great, the service is friendly and professional, the location ideal and the ambiance perfect for this seaport city. The fish soup is a special delight.

This is a restaurant rather than a bar, very close to the quay. Excellent seafod and I would recommend the Moule Mouclade (a first for me and I am looking out for it again).

My wife and I ate here, the words completely superb, mouth-watering, delicious, are just not enough. The service was excellent, the restaurant is so wonderfully quaint and original with much to enjoy on display. The waiters explain everything on the menu, Personally I had Mussels in a sauce to die for, Hake, and cheese to finish all washe down with... More

Famed for its 'Fruits de mer', this restaurant did not live up to its reputation. We found it rather touristy, and expensive. And worst of all, the food did not please us at all. The 4 kinds of fish in a special bouillon was bland, the 'meli-melo' of 'fruits de mer' (35 euros) consisted of a rather tasteless collection of... More

Went here for lunch without a booking. Restaurant was busy but not full and we had gone there in a strong recommendation. We thought it was quite expensive but expected that for the array of seafood on offer. However we chose the menu of the day and it was mediocre. We have a small amount of French but wanted help... Visited with a group of friends and was struck by how large and maze like it is inside. Ambience is fantastic, waiters are friendly and attentive. The food overall was good, but for some small gripes, and price was as expected, which is expensive, but good so didn't mind. I recommend the smoked cod roe. Waiter said it would be... More

Busy restaurant. Seafood was lovely, got food envy when I saw the large seafood platters. Would recommend visiting. If I return to la rochelle I would return here

My hotel recommended this and booked me a table. You would think you were on a ship!! The Oysters were good (I think! Never ate them before) I thought they'd have been cooked but were served on a bed of ice to keep them fresh. The main course I chose was chicken but it wasn't cooked through. Disappointing to say... Very expensive. Platter was good if pricey. Biggest rip-off was the wine. Dessert wasn't great either. Overall dissatisfied.

For over 70 years, le Bar Andre has welcomed diners aboard a ship "moored" at the foot of the towers in the old port of La Rochelle. The menu mirrors the restaurant, an abundance of the sea's treasures. The seafood and shellfish arrive daily direct from the local fish market.
