About
For over 70 years, le Bar Andre has welcomed diners aboard a ship "moored" at the foot of the towers in the old port of La Rochelle. The menu mirrors the restaurant, an abundance of the sea's treasures. The seafood and shellfish arrive daily direct from the local fish market.

A very busy restaurant on the Vieux Port (Old Harbour). I was here for dinner, and the food was very, very good (I had grilled sardines with potatoes - delicious!). Service was also very good and prices are moderate to high.

Andre is a very big restaurant specialising in seafood. A large portside frontage with plenty of pavement tables. It was extremely busy so not the most intimate of restaurants. It looks like they specialise in fruit de mer so that is probably great if you...More

Great for a fruit de mer, not the largest, but sufficient. Oysters and other shellfish seem to be a speciality.

Just back slightly from the marina. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere like you are in an old ship. The oysters are superb (Gilluard) are expensive but worth every euro. All the other meals were superb with some very good local white wines.

We chose this because it was mentioned in all the guides as unmissable. I think this has gone to their heads and they think they don’t have to bother any more. The service was appalling and the food, when it eventually arrived, mediocre at best....More

We heard that Andres was good if you like seafood - we entered through the rear of the restaurant and were amazed when we were led to our table through a labyrinth of dining areas - the place is like a tardis, and it was...More

Stressed service, but everything went well. An institute for over 70 years. You need to be lucky with the food and the service. I was and I left as a very happy man.
