Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have been eating all over Nice. We have been to most of the highest rated restaurants in tripadvisor and all the Michelin starred restaurants (except L'Aromate). We have been returning to Le 7eme Sense for about 5 years now and must have been to...the restaurant around 15 times. The food is always top notch and somehow Chef Giles manages to make that extra twist to some very good dishes. His cooking is more guided toward the traditional style of French Cooking. For instance the duck dish is always a winner. The sauce is based upon a slow cooked boullion that has been simmering the entire day. Terrific food takes time to prepare, "No dish on the menu that your kids do not like, no problem". Chef Giles goes out of his way and prepares a pasta dish just for your kids". The ambiance of this small cosy restaurant makes us feel we are in the French countryside visting a chef who prepares food just for you. Come hungry if you plan to eat the 3 course meal!More

What do you get when you combine the talents of a master chef, an experienced restaurateur, an expert judge of the market offerings, and a cordial host? You get Gilles of Le 7eme Sens, who combines all these things in the person of a great...artist. Although my wife and I dined there several months ago, in checking to make sure our next planned trip soon would not find those perfect circumstances changed, I realized that I had forgotten to contribute a review. For me dining is about the food. Sometimes one is forced to contribute to the maintenance of crystal chandeliers, gleaming mirrors, golden cherubs, and liveried waiters presiding over flaming chafing dishes, rare delicacies imported from Pacific Islands, and large tabs. But somehow I never noticed that all that contributes to the quality of the food. Simple bistros usually offer good quality for your investment of time and euros, but let's face it, the solid tasty food is usually standard fare which satisfies immensely but does not dazzle. Not so chez Monsieur Gilles! Dazzle is not too audacious a term there. The menu is short, literally recherché per the market, and perfectly finished in the moments before it lands on your table. This is not an impossible task - I can do it in my own kitchen - but it is so rare from our contemporary assembly line restaurants that it can only be done by the determined individual who exerts absolute control over his own shop. Monsieur Gilles is the whole show at 7eme Sens, or at least he was when I was there. In the names of the thousands of diners who have enjoyed his hospitality, I hope it stays that way. We dined on the fois gras, a thick cut across the entire lobe, served au natural. This is an opportunity you must not miss. We followed with the veal with morels and the magret with a delicate fruit sauce. The desserts were impeccable. My pictures show everything although accessing them on TripAdvisor can be tricky and the order never gets preserved. Mine start with "William:" Go there. There cannot be many places like it.More

Le 7ème Sens is the kind of restaurant you dream of finding. The menu suggests “bistro”, but every dish has a special touch that reveals the personality of the chef and reflects the best that the market can offer. With many visits over a number...of years, my wife and I have eaten our way through most of the menu. The cooking and presentation have always been perfect, and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. Surprisingly, this is all the work of one man — owner/chef/waiter Gilles. In spite of his many tasks, Gilles manages to find time to chat and make his guests feel genuinely welcome. Le 7ème Sens is only a few minutes walk from the hustle and hype of Nice’s Vieille Ville. It is quite simply the best value for money among Nice’s many fine restaurants.More

Le 7ème Sens is a cosy little restaurant located very centrally (200 metres from the Old Town). The chef/owner Gilles Minier is an eminent representative of French cooking at its best, combining simplicity and sophistication. Fresh produce is cooked with skill, imagination and an infallible...sense (the seventh?) of taste and texture. Prices of both food and wine are very reasonable. Highly recommended – avoid the rush of the Old Town and enjoy a superb meal in quiet and quaint surroundings.More

We went here on our last night in Nice. It was a Friday evening and we were able to get in without a reservation. The restaurant was quiet, only 2 other people showed up while we were there - this may have been because the...weather was really bad. The restaurant is just a few mins walk from the couloir vert/green corridor, (not sure what it's called). A lot of Nice restaurants only open at 7.30pm for dinner, but this one was open when we walked past around 7pm, which was great. 2 of us had different fish dishes, one had veal, I had snails starter, we had a couple of desserts too. The food was very good and the presentation was great. Good value, nice pleasant ambience, Gilles was very nice too. This seems to be a little neighbourhood joint, we felt it was a nice local experience, and we will go back if we are in Nice again.More

A nice small restaurant serving good home cooked food accompanied by keenly priced quality wines. There were 8 covers including us and le patron was the chef and server. So at times we waited a longer time to be served as he sought to juggle...both roles! Food was lovely. A very small point was that the sauce with my St Jacques was too salty for my taste ( but that could be me). It was good te away from the main tourist centre.More

On a recent business trip to Nice, a friend took me to this cute little restaurant. He had told me that it had received great reviews on trip advisor, but I was still a little bit skeptical, since we were the only two guests. It...was a Tuesday evening and Nice was extremely quiet. Another restaurant would've sent us away, with only two to cook for. Not this one! He treated us amazingly. The food was delicious. I had a starter with fois gras. Usually restaurants serve up a small portion with lots of bread, but here, the portion was very generous and the quality excellent. Next I had a steak, which was expertly prepared. We rounded off our meal with a cheese plate. The attention to detail was mind boggling. He sprinkled chili powder around the rim of the plate, which looked nice and gave a great flavour when dipping the cheese in there. The host was by himself, but did everything, from prepare the dishes, entertain us with stories, welcome us, bring the food, everything. I'm sure in the end he also washed our plates. I wish him all the best for the success of his restaurant. Ordering is very easy. You choose whether you'd like starter and main course, or main course and desert, or all three, and then you simply pick off the various options on the wall. Prices were reasonable for what we ordered. The *only* slightly negative mark that I would give him - and with this my friend agreed - it would've been nice if he had told us a bit about the cheeses. Since they were all quite different, it would've been nice to know what their distinct qualities were.More

Amazing-loved the food, went for lunch to this one man band restaurant. It's foodie heaven. Service is brilliant although can take a while as the owner does everything himself - it's worth the wait. Highly recommended.

We ate here yesterday and had the duck with figs and beef in red wine. The duck was very tender and juicy. The cook understood our different requests of degrees of doneness. The food was very well prepared, the cook/owner/waiter, all in one, knows how...to handle his food, you can tell by the taste and the way he displays it on the plate. I loved the sauce that accompnaied the duck and the small potatoe gratin and green beens. How would I describe the choices? This is not a place were you will find experimental cuisine or fusion kind of food. These are more traditional dishes cooked with respect and love of food. As desserts we had: Cafe Gourmand (small assortements of desserts) and Creme Brulee (custard with caramelized sugar coating). The desserts were very good. The owner/cook/water is very friendly and it was a pleasure to talk to him. If French food is what you're looking for in a small, cozy and romantic setting, then this is the place. It might be better to reserve via telephone directly.More

This is my fourth visit to Nice and my first time at this little gem of a restaurant. I went there largely because of other reviews I read. My sons and I ordered off a prix fixe menu. You can either order an appetizer and...main course or a main course and dessert. One son had a shrimp appetizer and beef tenderloin and the other had foie gras and cod. I had a salmon appetizer and pork tenderloin. Of course the dishes more complex than I make them sound. Everything was delicious! I highly recommend this place. Lastly, the food was reasonably priced and the chef very friendly.More
