We chanced upon Gus on a bitterly cold Mistral day in lovely St Remy, and it turned out to be a great find. The restaurant was packed to the gills (it was a market day), so it might be a good idea to book ahead. Despite the cold day, we were not deterred from ordering the mixed seafood platters (we... We were lured in by the sight of the delicious seafood in the window, envisaging beautiful warm prawn/scallop/crab dishes. Given that it was absolutely freezing outside it was disappointing to find that all the seafood is served on ice - certainly not what we wanted (nor, it seemed, did many other people). Daily menu was a touch dull and the... More

We decided to spend the Sunday afternoon eating and wine drinking due to the mistral glacier and ended up in Gus, which was great. The place was crowded at the time we arrived (without table reservation), but we were seated within a couple of minutes. We both had the set lunch menu (vegetable salmon tartare as starters, cabillaud/pork as main... More

Visited twice on our week stay in St Remy - restaurant at lunch was quiet on both occassions but staff remained attentive and food service quick. The sea bream was perfectly cooked and the lunch menu special was excellent value. Owner has a couple of other restaurants in town and seem to do hospitality very well. Definitely visit.

After placing our order we were treated to an amuse bouche of zingy, sun dried tomato confit and toasted baguette rounds, presented on a slate rectangle. For the plat du jour (12.90 euros or 19.90 euros for the two courses), I had a perfectly-cooked merlu rôti (a roasted white fish) on a mound of an ultra-fresh broccoli-leek mélange with a... More

This restaurant was recommended by a local guide. It was a good choice. My wife and I enjoyed an herb salad with goat cheese, and roasted fish complemented with Pouilly Fume wine. The meal was tasty. The server was friendly and helpful with suggestions.

My husband and I arrived in the lovely town of St Remy without reservations. Although the restaurant was busy the staff were very accommodating, friendly and helpful. The set menu had plenty of choice and all our food was excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and hope to return soon. The atmosphere was vibrant, with a mixture of families... Dined this evening with my daughter. Arrived without reservations at 7:10pm and were able to get a seat. This restaurant offers a Menu du Jour for dinner at €29 which my daughter enjoyed. Duck rillets to start, chicken breast with sweet potato & artichoke, then finishing with a "fantastic" tiramisu. I ordered a la carte and enjoyed cold cauliflower soup... More

Based on the great Trip Advisor reviews, we booked a table in advance for our one night in Saint Remy de Provence, and so glad we did. The staff was friendly and helpful, explaining each dish and patiently translating to English for us ( and the other many English speaking customers). I thoroughly enjoyed my entree, pain perdu au chèvre... More

A lovely dining experience, especially for seafood lovers. Seafood towers with shellfish from around the world are featured, but lots of locally produced food as well. Right in the center of Saint Remy.

Description
OWNER'S CHANGE

In the center of Saint-Remy-de-Provence, "Chez Gus" becomes " Gus restaurant" with a menu enriched since the beginning of March. Shells, retail or in the form of seafood platters and the fish are always on the menu. But we find from now on some meat and varied accompaniments there. Not to mention of patisserie from the display.

"Grenadian of veal with reduction of white wine and sage", "pig's filet mignon wipes honey and thyme, carrots and prunes roasted in the balsamic", "sole belle menuniere cut in front of the customer ", are a part of an elaborate menu.

31 Boulevard Victor hugo, the twins Anthony (in room) and Gregory (in cooking) attended by his wife Eliska, invite you in a merry gustative stroll.
