Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had an amazing lunch here. Staff are very friendly and food is a great combination of simplicity and quality. Tried the lunch menu of the day, which was well-priced for the quality of the food. Everything our table had was super so highly recommended!

We enjoyed a very good dinner there. Can only recommend this restaurant. Rather small selection which is a plus as everything we had was well presented and tasty.

We came to Le Comptoire des Alpes twice during our week in Chamonix. On both occasions we had a wonderful experience; warm greeting on arrival, impeccable friendly service and fabulous food, by far the best that we had in Chamonix. Of particular note was the...blueberry risotto, the veal and the tuna, all beautifully presented, hot and delicious. For 56 euros you choose a starter, main and dessert from the a la carte plus you are served a couple of very clever amuse-bouches. The wine is reasonably priced, and unusually for restaurants in Chamonix, they do not automatically add a service charge (though the staff certainly earn one). What a shame that Le Comptoire des Alpes is 1250km from home, otherwise we would be there every week!More

The food was absolutely delicious and the reservations staff could not have been more helpful. The only reason for the 4 star review was the lack of attention and service from the waiting staff, who didn’t come anywhere near our table for 50 minutes between...finishing our main course and asking for our desert choices, made even stranger by the fact they asked for our desert choices at the beginning of our meal. We were left to sit with dirty plates in front of us and empty glasses. The waiter even brought us the bill before desert arrived.More

Very mediocre, poor service (we had to ask twice for cutlery to accompany our dessert - it took about 20 minutes to get our first menu / attention after seating and we had to ask them to explain what was actually on the children’s menu)....Just a bit lack lustre overall. Some dishes were explained, some they didn’t bother. Starter and main nice but nothing special, dessert was pretty awful. We came for the rave views and wish we had stuck with the buzzier general fayre restaurants in town. Not the fine dining establishment it pretends to be. Disappointing.More

There is plenty of choice in Chamonix when it comes to eating out. We prefer a quiet setting to bustle. So Le Comptoir was an easy choice. It ticked all our boxes - sitting outside meant fantastic views of the Aiguille de Midi, tables well...spaced, delicious food, well matched wine and attentive, unrushed service. All in all a great experience.More

The 4 of us ordered 2 duck mains and green salad and 2 ordered the tuna.. The duck was inedible. I sent it back and had no interest in eating it returned. The salad was sandy. The second duck was also sent back for a...higher temp but still inedible. Both ducks were charged to our bill. This place is a joke.More

Hello Sir, it would appear that our table was not up to the standard of the San Francisco restaurants you so much appreciate. We are a French/Italian cuisine restaurant, with good feedback from all our customers. Of course, we accept criticism when it is well-founded...More

Wow! Just wow… the staff were amazing and so attentive. They even organized a toddler friendly meal for our 4 year old. My husband and I both had duck which was a-may-zing. You get an amuse bouche and a complimentary platter of cake/sweets. A really...comprehensive (and not expensive) wine menu. A wonderful experience and I recommend you try it too!More

We have been traveling through France, and Switzerland for the last two weeks on holiday and I will say this was the best food of the trip. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was hot, Flavorful and very well presented, completely right sized for...a three course experience. The wine list was well rounded and the service excellent. I wish I had booked two nights worth of dinners while in town.More

I am making this comment so that you do not have high expectations for this particular restaurant. We took the recommended dish of the day, T bone steak. You had to chew each bite at least 10 times. It was like trying to eat a...tasteless rubber. When they saw that we didn't eat it they asked us if we wanted to take it home. To our answer that it was not edible and we would ask the chef to try it, the answer came after a while that he tried it and it was very good……… Conclusion probably the chef of this particular restaurant is some hungry dog who has had more than a month to eat…… .Also that particular dish was not removed from the bill…….More

A cool place to be, in the bustling city centre. Food nicely presented and cooked to the perfection. Price reasonable especially when it came to that kind of quality & presentation. Staff attentive and helpful. They used very seasonal & fresh ingredients. The half blue...lobster was to die for. Beef fillet cooked in the medium rare perfection. Desserts came with a twist. The pear poached and the passion fruit soufflé were refreshing.More

This has been my most horrible experience at Chamonix by far - the restaurant completely screwed up my reservation for Christmas Eve and their attitude was very unacceptable and unprofessional. I booked my Christmas Eve dinner with the restaurant around 1 month in advanced, and...on the day when I made the call to double check, the lady couldn’t find the reservation. There was no apology and the staff was blaming me for not paying reservation fee / didn’t send email to follow up. But how would I know a reservation fee and email were needed given the staff said it was booked for me / didn’t mention anything about those extra steps when I called for reservation? It was Christmas Eve and so was very difficult to find elsewhere given the last minute notice, the restaurant unhelpfully made the experience even worse by 1) not willing to find a solution but only said it was fully booked and ‘I can’t spend more time with you on the phone’, 2) attitude - not even apologise for it, and 3) even trying to push their mistake and responsibility to the client. I don’t know how their food tastes but this level of service certainly doesn’t match their ‘Michelin equivalent’ title (as the reservation staff described to me back in November). I 100% wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone unless they make a change to their service.More
