Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Le Musee will give you the model by which to measure any other bouchon. Really, really good classic bouchon Lyonnais cooking, excellent wine, everything reasonably priced. A lively, friendly place with everyone enjoying the food and their friends. Great staff.

This was our first Bouchon in Lyon and we had an amazing meal. The restaurant is tucked away in the side of an old building. It is super cute and brings out the historic side of the city. The staff was fantastic. The main host...came out and explained all the foods to us and took our order. His English was excellent and we ordered all his recommendations. The portions are large so my wife and I just went with a starter and two mains. We had pig cheek and canale. I would recommend both. Great place, friendly staff, and good food.More

The only difficulty I had with this restaurant was getting through to make a reservation . I finally called the hotel we were going to be staying in Lyon and they were able to do it! It is a small hole in the wall and...the food and service were just wonderful! We were able to order what we wanted from the selections presented. The salads were delicious as well as my beef cheeks and my husband's fish with lobster sauce. The wine was excellent!More

We returned here for our 3rd visit but 2nd time dining. The 1st time we didn't have reservations so were turned away but with a smile. We had lunch a few years ago and dinner this time. We both chose the 32€ menu (Menu Soir...32). We received an Amuse Bouche to start (Pork Skins in a small bowl). My other half had Butternut Squash soup, Chicken w Crayfish, and Mousse au Chocolat. I had the Escargot appetizer, the local fish specialty, Quenelle de Brochet, and Tarte a la Praline. We each had house wine: me 1-46cl Rhone red wine plus 1-25cl as well and other half 1-46cl Viognier white wine. 46cl is 14€,and 25cl is 6,50€?? This is the best bouchon in Lyon; one can tell its quality by the demand. I now email our hotel weeks in advance to make a reservation since they only take reservations over the phone or in person! The menu is done orally by the owner as he visits each table. Since most bouchons mainly serve the same choices (at least 90% of the menus are the same), I think that this will be the only one we visit in the future. The other bouchons we've visited have one or more issues: 1) no house wine so overpriced bottles only 2) lack of personal touches, 3) food quality not as good, and 4) so many more. Please visit here, arrive at opening time whether for lunch or dinner, and most importantly, MAKE reservation in ADVANCE! Merci encore. Also, note the wall with postcards and pictures!!More

I returned to this restaurant after 10.5 years and was delighted to find nothing has changed (please note that making a booking saves disappointment as this restaurant fills up every day). The typical Lyonnaise food was outstanding, the wine enjoyable, and the service impeccable. I...enjoyed a beetroot and goat cheese terrine for entree followed by a fish soufflé in a lobster bisque while others around me seemed to love the beef cheeks. This time I didn’t have desert as two courses are more than sufficient. I just hope I don’t have to wait 10 years before I can return again. Thank you to the chef, wait staff and owner for another memorable experience.More

Hard to know where to begin reviewing this place ....AGAIN. We last came here 5 years ago, it's a place no few others. No frills, lots of thrills though. The owner is the life and soul of the Le Musee, funny, entertaining, engaging and drives...the place. Food is no frills bouchon style but there should be something for most folk. Seated on long tables along side whoever else is there and yes it's always full, you'll eat great traditional style food, share wine, share stories and meet strangers....this place is an institution. Whatever your tastes give it a go, it's just great. merci Chef.More

My husband and I had a fantastic meal at this bouchon. Incredibly friendly staff and the owner is a real character! I speak a little French but they spoke perfect English! Food is traditional French and absolutely delicious. Our meal with starters, wine and dessert...was very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend.More

Amazing experience. We arrived just before opening time so the owner gave us an impromptu historical tour of the buildings behind the restaurant. He explained how the locals went to great lengths to avoid the occupying German forces during WW2. Dinner was exceptional and again...the owner took personal responsibility for explaining the evening menu. Everything was superb. This Bouchon is the authentic experience here in Lyon and should be on everyone’s list while visiting beautiful Lyon.More

All the rave reviews are completely accurate. My group spoke very little French, but the owner was so charming and accommodating that it wasn't an issue at all. Everything we had was delicious from the starters to the desserts, and this was my favorite restaurant...in Lyon. Fantastic, just go!More

I research this location and called there about a month before our trip to make a reservation. As soon as we arrived we felt as if it was going to be very special. We had one of the first reservations for the night. All the...employees were friendly and engaging including the chef who sat with us to go over his limited menu which he had written on a note pad. We made our choices and as the dishes came out we ate and drank in what became a very crowded restaurant. The food was awesome and the lively atmosphere including joking with the waiters made it a very enjoyable and fun night. And it was not expensive at all!More

We struck lucky and was squeezed in at1930. The Manager kindly gave us a mini tour of the building, which was an interesting bonus. The waiter explained each and every dish to us in detail. The starters were very good indeed, my favourite being a...simple yet incredible Mushroom Salad. I've never tasted something so very nice. The mains and dessert were of the same impeccable standard. The wine was divine. Each member of staff deserves so much praise. From start to finish a delight.More
