Attentive service, beautifully presented delicious food, relaxed atmosphere, fairly priced.....all in all a delightful experience thank you. I enjoyed my scallop starter, bass main and the giant bottle of genepi is left with you at the end of the meal...👍

Unlike Verbier, New Year’s Eve in Megève was a relatively civil affair, i.e., no bottles breaking or fireworks exploding at your feet. Yes, a huge crowd, but what town offers everyone free hot mulled wine from a giant cauldron or apple cider, a decent DJ, and a parade of torch-carrying ski instructors? After imbibing a bit on the mulled wine and music in the town square, we ventured over to La Table du Trappeur for our 8:00pm special New Year’s Eve dinner reservation. This seven-course meal was, in a word, formidable! As denizens of NYC, we are exposed to no shortage of quality dining establishments. Yet, this unforgettable meal ranked among the best any of us had ever experienced.

Traditional Warmth and Hospitality

This is a truly delightful restaurant in Megeve with a warm and cosy interior in traditional alpine style. We holiday in this area every year and always try to go here twice or three times. Although it has a laid back atmosphere, everything is very professional, the tables are beautifully laid and the staff are young, knowledgeable and very friendly, all under the watchful eye of the director, Laurent. The menu is varied and offers very good value in a town that is considered expensive. We had roast filet of lamb with thyme jus, roast duck breast with a raspberry sauce, wild boar and a tartiflette, all of which were delicious and perfectly cooked. There are excellent starters and desserts to choose from and the wine list is comprehensive. This is a restaurant that chooses to maintain very high standards without all the fuss and prices that sometimes go with that. We love it and will be back next year.

Family dinner

A fabulous, friendly and relaxed restaurant that never disappoints. This was our first meal out post lockdown and we felt the venue had prepared well from the table layout across the restaurant, to the QR code menu that avoided menus being handled and the use of face masks by the staff. The food was lovely, especially the Tartiflette that got a ‘thumbs up’ from our children.

Great restaurant in a picture-perfect village

Great restaurant in a wonderful village. We have visited Megève on many occasions over the years and this is definitely our favourite restaurant. My wife and I both had the filet de boef and it was perfect. The bill was very reasonable given the location and standard of the food. The staff were friendly and attentive and the overall ambiance delightful. We will certainly be eating here on future visits.

Typical Megève restaurant, but a cut above

The restaurant is in a 4* hotel on the edge of the central pedestrian zone. The interior is, predictably, wood lined, but well appointed, with white tablecloths and attentive service. There is a a fairly short menu with the usual Savoyard fare, but it is well cooked and presented. The wine list is not extensive but is well chosen and, by local standards, is not madly priced. An enjoyable, calm place for dinner with family or friends.

Visited twice during our week in Megeve - 2 adults and 1 child. Super experience and really excellent food. We did the rounds during our week and all agreed this was the best over all. Food was well presented and they accommodated our 12 year old regarding the entreé. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Price was slightly less than other restaurants in town and we felt represented very good value for Megeve.

A wonderful end to a wonderful day

A group of six of us went here last Friday night, it’s July. Between us we could manage some French but not necessary as we were made very welcome and all the dishes were explained with good humour. The food was absolutely lovely, my wife had the Turbot and I had the Veal. Delicious simply delicious, I tested my diabetes with the Crème Brulee- it won!

Consistent experience

La Table du Trappeur is a very smart restaurant in Megeve and that is where the difference is. This is a totally unpretentious restaurant with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, a great buz and wonderful food delivered with aplomb! The surroundings are warm and cosy and you can relax in this restaurant. Prices are very fair for the quality of food being served. It is one of our most favourite places to eat and it never disappoints.

Great long lunch in Megeve

Megeve was quiet in April. Whether that had anything to do with the quality of our lunch I don't know but the service was great and the food arrived quickly. Both our meals were lovely (one Lamb, one Sea Bass, plus puddings) and did not disappoint. Given the quality of the food the prices I felt were very reasonable, unlike Megeve generally!

Our favourite place in Megève

Restored our faith in Savoyard restaurants. The place has a wonderfully cosy and friendly atmosphere and very competent service. All the dishes we tried were perfectly executed and excellent. The desserts were pretty good too. To cap it off, we were offered a complementary digestif at the end. It's not cheap, but the prices are in keeping with other establishments in the area and this was by far the best place we dined at during our stay in Megève.

Excellent yet again

Visited with a couple of Megeve regulars and as always had an excellent dinner. Service, food, and ambience, and the wines were delightful. The only place to go in Megeve if you want a consistently superb experience. Don't change a thing, Trappeur, you hit the mark every time. It was packed the midweek night we went, reflecting how popular it is. Can't wait to visit again. A bientot.

Excellent Restaurant in the center of Megeve

This is a very good restaurant that serves French food that has a mention in the Michelin book. We where 5 persons and all our dishes where among the best ever. Atmosphere is very nice and respected. The waiters are polite. Very recommended to all. Prices are average and the you get your moneys worth.

Tasty dinner in a great atmosphere

Restaurant’s interior is really simple, however food is great, with good choice of wine. I was z as bit disappointed, that there is not game this year, as I wanted to repeat a famous boar dish. Recommended.

Two restaurants under the same name with different ambiance

There are two different restaurants with the same name. One is upstairs: is the hotel restaurant. Another is downstairs: what you see on the pictures. They share the same kitchen but ambiance is very different. You see people with wet hair upstairs, who came down to have a quick dinner in the hotel restaurant. The food was average. They didn’t clean the table after they took our plates away, but offered desserts. Unfortunately, the experience doesn’t match the bill.
