After doing all of the typical touristy things in Passau, we decided to stop and enjoy a cup of delicious coffee. We also ordered apple strudel (because that's one of the touristy things to eat when in Germany!), and it was unbelievably delicious. If you stop in Cafe Simon while in Passau, please don't miss an opportunity to taste their... More

This wonderful cafe/bakery serves delicious confections, candies and authentic gingerbread. Particularly delicious were the apple, cheese and kirsch strudels. The gingerbread cookies were amazingly addicting. It is well worth the visit for a nice treat to dine in or take away.

Attended a gingerbread making demonstration conducted by 3 generations then had some chocolate and Lebkuchen. Probably better than I had in other cities. The staff is friendly and helpful. We also sampled the chocolate at them all then went back in the afternoon for more. Really nice cafe but busy and noisy but we really had a great time

We are on a Uniworld river cruise and one stop is in Passau, Germany. We were taken on a tour of the older part of town which we found fascinating. One place visited was what I would call a bakery, but the proprietor says they are not bakers in the truest since. They own the restaurant and the adjoining shop... More

From the tour, service, and products... Everything was fabulous! Visited Cafe Simon as part of a Viking tour group and couldn't have been more pleased. They clearly know what they're doing.

Conveniently located at the beginning of a shopping area. They are famous for their various ginger bread. You can ask for a degustation and they will gladly oblige to your request. They taste really good without being too sweet. I also try their Palachinka with vanilla ice cream, these are also satisfying. Service is friendly and the cafe is comfortable.... More

This charming cafe/restaurant offers delicious sweets and coffee, as well as ice cream and other snacks. We were told to go there for the gingerbread. While there is apparently a demonstration sometimes, we could not figure out how to arrange that, but still wound up purchasing some of the gingerbread to enjoy there and to take home. The style we... More

This chocolate shop has both seating to enjoy right there and many displays to take chocolates home. I have sailed through Passau a couple times now on river cruises, and I always make sure to stop here to pick up truffles and gold leaf chocolate to bring home for gifts!

I have been to Passau three times in the last three years, each time stopping for coffee and cake at Cafe Simon, there is always a great choice of quality cakes on offer. Will be going there next time I am back in Passau.

I visit Cafe Simon just about once a week after school because I have a sweet tooth and it's just that good! There's always something new for me to try! They have the best selection of cake that I have found in Passau and the staff is always very friendly! Not to mention, it is always a good place to... More
