Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lots of decent reviews for this place but from our experience we wouldn't go again. The food was good but the place was very noisy (which shows it was busy so it must be popular! but maybe some soft furnishings would help dampen the noise)....The service wasn't great - drinks missed, regularly ignored by the waiting staff and had to ask for the bill. On the plus side the food was nice and the prices reasonable for a city centreMore

Visited Sophieneck with my wife , our son and his partner. It was already quite busy when we arrived, but the service was timely and friendly.. The food was very good. Put all thoughts of the calories out of your mind and do try the...Apfelstudel for pudding. By the time we left, the restaurant was just about full, which tells you everything about how good it is.More

This was a really cool restaurant that had a very cozy feel inside! They have amazing German food that you may not have had before! The staff is incredibly nice and they’re willing to help you if you’re slightly confused by the menu! The only...downside was that it was confusing with seating. There’s no host stand so you aren’t quite sure who to talk to to get a table. Even with that I still recommend this cafe to anyone going to Berlin!More

We dined here before lockdown when it was owned and run by an Irish family. It used be be rammed with a great atmosphere. Sadly our latest visit was poor in comparison. Gone was the warm vibe, instead we were initially ignored despite the bar...not being busy. We were then told it was at least an hour wait for food (fair enough, we had not pre-booked and there were several large tables waiting). We said that we would wait and have some drinks in the meantime. Again we were ignored before being relocated “out of the way” the other side of the bar. We finished our drinks and left. Shame as several other restaurants did well with our custom during our stay.More

Absolutely lovely atmosphere, think we were the only tourists there! Amazing prices for food and massive portion sizes! Lit a candle for us as we sat down and our waiter was so enthusiastic and cheerful, made the whole night. Was attended as a birthday dinner...and came out very satisfied as was authentic German cuisine. Lovely looking restaurant too. Ended up being £23 each for a massive !!! pork knuckle, alcoholic drink each, and apple strudel. Pork just fell off the bone and the potatoes were seasoned incredibly probably the best potatoes i’ve ever had and i don’t like new potatoes! Thoroughly enjoyed from the both of us.More

Food ok Service acceptable till the waitress took over. Finished main course at 9:30 Called twice the waitress; finally she came at 9:55 (busy chatting since all table were served). She took the dessert order than she said kitchen was closing at 10pm (so 5...minutes later… too short to cut a piece of cake!). Too late. Disappointing. When we asked to pay She couldn’t even remember what we had for dinner nor where we were sitting (it’s a small place). Not sure why you have a waitress like that.More

We both had a superb vegetarian salad for dinner, one with feta cheese, and the other with both feta cheese and nuts. Choice of 2 delicious dressings. We also shared a portion of potato wedges. Very good choice of wines by the glass. Lovely setting...on a quiet street. Sit outside if you can. No need to worry that this restaurant serves only typical German meat dishes (which looked very popular).More

What a fantastic find. Local food and good service, including beer recommendations and a kids menu. Would 100% go back - was perfect for a low-key family meal, and very local.

Good food, local vibes, reasonable price. I got the schnitzel with potatoes and a side salad, with a half meter beer. It was the highlight of my evening. Staff was kind.

We stumbled across Sophieneck while trying to go to another restaurant (which was fully booked), attracted by the look of a small restaurant which said it served local and regional cuisine. To my surprise, in addition to many usual German dishes like eisbein (pig knuckle)...and schnitzel, they also had soyanke soup - which I think is a Russian/Ukrainian pickled soup. I had a simple main course, meatballs with warm potato salad and my wife had the schnitzel. Both were great. This was a fortunate discovery!More

Loved this restaurant. It has a cozy atmosphere with candlelit tables. The food and wine both very good. Had the Berliner meatballs with absolutely delicious warm potato salad. Also thought it was reasonable.
