This place is a great idea! It took some finding though as the chandelier wasn't turned on on the night we visited sadly. But it was worth it. First of all the green dip they give you with the bread, is amazing! Our starters if quails egg in brioche were to die for, however we were both left a little... More

Our children (6&8yrs) love nothing more than to eat in grown up (often Michelin starred) restaurants, but as a family of vegetarians we tend to play it safe with cuisines we know they love like Asian, Indian or Italian. However we decided to take the risk and treat ourselves to berlin's best vegetarian restaurant. It was so worth it! The... More

I rode shotgun for this meal. My wife and daughter were very excited to go to this trendy restaurant. A friend who had recently been to Berlin recommended it. Part of the fun was finding the restaurant, which was located in an alley next to the Westin hotel. The space was cool, with minimalist decoration and a hip staff. We... More

as i'm sure you're already aware, the location is fantastic. the first few steps down the gloomy alley past the dustbins and pallets are genuinely nerve-wracking, and you're not really sure you're in the right place until you see the huge reclaimed chandelier flickering above you (hint: look up) firstly, the atmosphere: absolutely fantastic. louder-than-normal deep house music lifts the... I am in the vegetarian restaurant business and, as I read good reviews about this place, I was curious to taste their food. When I came inside, it was pretty annoying that waiters and customers looked at me with an expression like 'you don't look like to be cool enough for this place. But it's ok, it's part of the... Food was absolutely AMAZING, location exiting with cool interior. The only thing that made the experience not-perfect was the arrogant waitress, even after tipping her much more than she deserved, she didnt bother to give a smile when we left, which I quite frankly expect from a place like this.... Still, you have to go check it out, great place!

My boyfriend surprised me with a reservation here. After he led me through a dark alley, I was a little confused. Nevertheless, here was this restaurant tucked away inconspicuously. The restaurant decor was simply hipster-chic, and I mean that in the best way possible. It was awesome. The waitress that served us was nice and gave us good wine recommendations for... More

I went back to Cookies Cream after my visit last year, and it was again a wonderful experience. The menu hadn't changed much - for a reason, it is really very good! It is an expensive restaurant for Berlin, but it is definitely worth the price.

The food at this "cult-vegetaraian" place was good and esthetically served (no dispute about that), but the choice was limited and the portions were small. I did not tip because of that reason and the politeniss/kindness went down right away as they ushered me out. Be prepared to feel ripped off + don't be scared in the dark whilst getting... More

It is a challenge to find the restaurant but what was worse was after being buzzed in you had to search for the actual dining area in dimly lit surroundings. After finding the dining area which was the opposite of the building all decked out in white. You are offered a fixed price menu with a few choices of starter,... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
