Stumbled across this place on our first night in Berlin and were pleasantly surprised!Great craft beers and a good atmosphere. Also came the second night and had the CurryWurst to go along with our beer which was really nice given what a simple concept it is. Would recommend if you like trying new beers.

We went here twice on our trip to Berlin. We had lunch and beer which included soup, cheese platter, pretzel and fries and all were very good. Beer was more in the region of 5 euros and food not that cheap. Pilners and craft beers were available. There was one waiter who was Turkish and was very friendly. He chatted... More

We ate here on the first night of staying in Berlin, hungry and wandering round where to eat, we chose here and it did not disappoint. All 4 of us went for traditional German food, from Currywurst to Knacker Sausage and Pork knuckle and sauerkraut washed down with a couple of steins - perfect! If you find yourself in the... More

I probably would have enjoyed what turned out to be a good beer bar, had the service not been so S.L.O.W. We wallowed for over two hours waitng for a “quick” lunch. It seemed like the restaurant had never done a group of 20 people before. I didn’t think the small portions of mass produced entrees were worth the price.... More

This bar is a great find. The selection of beers is excellent, and the tasting paddle is both really good and great fun. Makes a great stop on the way to or from The PUB just past Alexanderplatz and the bars at Hackescher Markt.

A nice place with local atmosphere and good beers but the food was far below our expectations. We tried the the Winner schnitzel, the roasted duck and the roasted ham leg but none of them was tasteful. Everything was overcooked or over heated. Thank God the beer was good. The waiters however were friendly and service was fast. The friends... More

We visited Brauhaus Lemke three out of our four days in Berlin and each time we were lucky to get a table as it was so popular, especially with large parties. The inner room seemed to cater for diners and customers wanting to sample the beer had to make do with the tables just inside the main door. They served... More

Came here on a recommendation for our first German meal in Berlin. We were put in the next room which was empty with no atmosphere and didn't fill up for a while. Asked for glasses of German white wine to be told they only have one white wine, not German, as they are a "Beer House"! Food came and it... More

We popped by to have dinner here thinking that it was going to be pretty popular and lively. Yes, whilst it is a brewery and beer hall it is not what you would normally come to associate with German beer halls. Lacked the bit of atmosphere I was hoping for. The service was pretty slow too. That being said though... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
