Popped in for dinner whilst staying nearby. Well-connected by the tram system. Closest station is Hackescher Markt. Hidden away under a viaduct, this place is huge! Such a huge range of beers on offer, as well as lots of traditional German food and other more American dishes. I went for the Berliner Meatballs and wasn't disappointed! Boyfriend had the Lemke... We had walked past this restaurant a few times during our visit to Berlin, it always seemed busy, On third night we decided to give it a go, Seated quickly and given drink and food menus, i know this place does a lot of different craft beers which my husband enjoys but i drink wine, when i asked for a... We thought we'd try having a meal here as they appeared to serve traditional German food and beer. Upon entering the restaurant no one met us or greeted us, we had to ask where we could sit. It then took about 10 minutes for our waitress to come to our table. After ordering I noticed a specials board and asked... More

We called here on our first day in Berlin and loved it .The waiter was excellent , really chatty and helpful .The 2nd night we called in and after a 20 minute wait we left . The female waitress really couldn't be bothered . She dumped the menus in front of us without a word . When we put our... More

We visited Brauhaus Lemke on a cold day after a visit to the Charlottenburg palace and gardens. It is just across the road and handy for the bus to the airport and Mitte. We shared a dessert for 2 called Kaiserschmarn. It is a mixture of pancakes, raisins, cherries and cream and was filling and delicious. My husband tried the... More

First class service, food and beer at Brahaus Lemke. The staff were great and the food was brilliant. They have many different beers to choose from too!

I was impressed with the concept of having whole chain of bars and restaurants under the railways. As I am a beer lover - I visited Lemke purposely and I did not got disappointed. The beers are great, waiters were brilliant and atmosphere was quite chill even though it was fool.

This is a place to drink beer, with the odd pretzel or snack to keep you going. A great selection, mixing traditional German styles with craft beers and seasonal specials, and good value The Winter Bock was outstanding, but there wasn't a dud beer on the menu (and we tried them all - most more than once, just to be... Stumbled across this place on our first night in Berlin and were pleasantly surprised!Great craft beers and a good atmosphere. Also came the second night and had the CurryWurst to go along with our beer which was really nice given what a simple concept it is. Would recommend if you like trying new beers.

We went here twice on our trip to Berlin. We had lunch and beer which included soup, cheese platter, pretzel and fries and all were very good. Beer was more in the region of 5 euros and food not that cheap. Pilners and craft beers were available. There was one waiter who was Turkish and was very friendly. He chatted... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
