Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Walked in, place was full so they couldn't entertain us, which is fair enough. However, the rude attitude of 2 staff members means we won't try on another night.

This is Berlin good done the traditional way. It feels like an old pub when you are there, with wooden panelling. Walls are decorated with old beer memorabilia. Staff friendly. Place very busy. There are a few beers on so a good choice. Also wine...and liqueurs. My wife had a very good spicy beef stew like a goulash. I had the traditional pork knuckle. In English terms this is smoked ham on the bone, which is then braised for a long time. The skin is not crispy like in Bavaria and not eaten.More

Outstanding atmosphere. Fantastic food and local drink. Would consider as one of the best restaurant / bierkeller visited in Berlin

We stumbled on this place after going to the nearby zoo, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a tiny place but full of character. The food was classic, heavy local stuff, and very good. Perfect for a snowy day. There was a nice selection of...beer too. The service was great from a very animated, funny waiter. I do not know if it’s on the tourist circuit or not, but it certainly felt like a place locals go. We were the only non-Germans around in a full house when we ate.More

As noted by other reviews the staff appeared to be rude. It was a Saturday night and the place was full but they didn’t seem interested in dealing with us.

Busy, loud but German typical kitschy. Food ok but nothing wow. Several types of beer. All ok except the staff: rude and cocky. And at the end wanted tip. I told him that in Europe you give tip of you like the service; not obliged....Just avoid!!!More

Do not waste your time going here! Horribly rude staff, particularly the woman in charge who showed no respect to anyone. The food was very mediocre. Just don't bother.

The staff is quite difficult, we can't change places. The place is very loud, and terrible music wich is also too loud.. Not a cozy place to enjoy our dinner.

Very unwelcoming staff. Really not nice at all. We arrived and were just almost shoved into our seating area. When we asked if we could sit a bit closer together, we simply received the answer “nein“.

We are family of 6 on holiday in Berlin, we had been looking forward so much to dinning at Dicke Wirtin. We'll can't tell you how disappointing it was. First of all the waitress started to take our drinks order and was obviously getting very...agitated with us and became rude and dismissive. She took 5 of the 6 orders of drinks and then just walked off, leaving my order not taken. She didn't even look me in the face while taking the others order it was as if I was totally invisible. Then when we got our meals, one was liver, it was disgusting honestly you could sole the bottom of you're shoe with it, it was so tough! The other meal was goulash and dumplings, well the dumplings were like rubber balls you could have bounced them about the room and taken someone's eye out. As for the goulash, the meat was hard as rock too. We complained to the rude waitress.. well she nearly blew a gasket! She didn't like it one bit. She argued with us telling us there was nothing wrong with it. In the end we ended up paying and just going. It ruined what started as a lovely night. Its a shocking place it really is. Beware you've been warned!More

An informal bar and restaurant very popular with locals, for good reason! We booked a party of 20 friends for dinner our first evening in Berlin and it was a delightful, hugely enjoyed evening. We had their Berlin Buffet Menu, and the food just kept...coming, with Berlin pilsner and German wine flowing well. Definitely a point of call on any trip to Berlin; it's at the top of the buzzy Savignyplatz. Enid and TonyMore

Our waitress was very rude and the food was bland. We went for the chicken schnitzel and the Bratwurst. The chicken was extremely dry and the Bratwurst was very oily with a lack of flavour. The waiting staff seemed very stressed and were making fun...of lots of the customers, which was uncalled for. I would avoid this place at all costsMore

Nice food in a cosy traditinal setting. Sadly the staff is kinda rude. Running around acting super busy and stressed. On top og that they don’t seem to dig non speaking German very much. Lack of etiquette!

A great traditional Berliner pub. We had a traditional lunch of curry wurst and Wiener schnitzel. We also had the mixed starter which was a good way for our kids to try lots of traditional Berliner food. And of course we had great beer. They...have 9 traditional beers on tap. A real find.More

Definitely carnevour orientated, though the two owners are so friendly I'm sure they could have rustled you something up. I had in the week I ate there: pork knuckle and many other delicious meaty treats.
