I found this place to be really good. I had read a lot about it and really liked the tea and cake when I was there. It was rather quiet, so it was perfect to study or read a little. Overall I really enjoy it, however, the only thing I didn't like is that it doesn't have its own restroom,... More

Have been in Berlin for two weeks and for eight of these days I went to this centrally located eatery for either breakfast or lunch. The selection is broad and stable (no fancy new stuff), the place is clean, and the service is friendly and fast (all the folks behind the counter speak English at a more than satisfactory level).... Have been to maybe 20 or so places here and keep coming back to Espresso Ambulanz. Great coffee (Soledor blend, which I hadn't heard of) made with care, always nice staff and a great space with couches, benches and outdoor space if the Berlin weather allows. Great old music too ! Currently (Sep 16)hidden by construction outside but don't let... More

The sort of place where time easily drifts away in a comfy armchair accompanied with great coffee and a friendly staff. Can recommend the breakfast highly. Nice music!

We went there for a quick coffee before going to the theatre, the hot drinks (hot chocolate and a cappuccino) were very nice, the blueberry cheesecake and the plain muffin were good as well. Extremely nice staff and cool atmosphere.

I just needed some coffee but this place was more than I expected. Service was just awesome, interior was relaxed so me and my friend just sat to the armchairs and relaxed. Coffee was good and chai-latte was just delicious. Small but very good place!

I go there for scones and carrot cake :) Coffee is good, atmosphere is hood as in many similar places in Berlin. I just work nearby and love to stop by to buy their carrot cake "to go" :)

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
