We had the 6 course taster menu (plus an excellent Amuse-bouche) which was wonderful - delicious, beautifully presented, perfectly sized portions. I drank a fabulous Riesling that was recommended on the tasting menu. My one quibble is that the service was not so great and...we were left to seat ourselves and pull out the table. Not what I would expect from a Michelin Star restaurant. Atmosphere was a bit subdued and no buzz but it was a quiet evening - at most half full.More

In all fairness, the restaurant first opened again the week before we visited after being closed for what I guess must have been quite some time due to pandemic, so there still is some hope that they get back to where they should be with...a star. Nevertheless, our expectations were to have a wonderful, seamless and flowing journey of food and service throughout the evening and it only partially fulfilled that. Let’s start with the food. It took 40 minutes before we finally went onto our culinary journey, although there only were a couple of tables taken and a set menu only. Really? The 6 courses we experienced were tasteful and elegant, but frankly lacked creativity. Good, but definitely not great. Service wise the restaurant could definitely win a mile. Service was functional, but not very personable. It felt more reactive than a genuine effort to create a nicely balanced and paced dinner experience. The waitress had to check the menu card with every course (with a seasonal set menu) to be able to explain what was presented on our plate. Finally, the maitre, which I guess was Mr Richard, only visited tables where he ‘knew’ the guests to check their satisfaction and chat with them, which frankly makes one feel like a secondary guest if he doesn’t. All in all, reasonable dinner, but work to be done to bring it back to Michelin star level….if that is what they (are still) aiming for…More

Delightful service and a lovely ambience but let down by the kitchen. Cooking IS a tad important in an eatery. Scratching my head as to why this has a Michelin star. Tulus Lotrek, for example, shares the same star but is in an entirely different...league as far as cooking. The dishes lacked invention and flair and showed little thought to presentation : it felt like going to an OK restaurant at a good hotel. My Zuchinni flower dish tasted burnt. The chef also has a problem with sauces : over use of olive oil in the amuse-bouche and Zuchinni flower dish, too much salt in the jus used for the quail dish (my tongue was still tingling after several glasses of water). Such a shame as, like I said, service and ambience was exemplary. We made two anodyne comments during our meal and they only charged us for 3 instead of 4 dishes. Very kind and thoughtful, but if the cooking doesn’t cut it then you don’t eat there.More

We were group of 4- had several of the dishes then had the ravioli again times 4. Great wait staff in english or german. Coordinated delivery not up to michelin stars but the food was exquisite Every single course was great Wine list was awesome...and reasonableMore

Cannot rate this restaurant highly enough. Initially was a bit wary from reading previous reviews, however when I called to make a very last minute booking on a Friday evening (around 3 hours before) the lady with whom I spoke was polite, friendly and addressed...all my questions. When I got to the restaurant, the service was exceptional as was the food. I went for the four course menu, but I ended up with 3 extra little plates in between my four courses, which was a pleasant surprise. Bread was also topped up throughout. It was a perfect evening to celebrate passing my exams and the end of my trip to Berlin.More

This restaurant has 1 star in the Michelin. It's the first time we went in a Michelin star restaurant outside Belgium. All what we eat was really good. The wines were also nice. We choose for the 7 courses menu and with the pairing of...the wine. The atmosphere is a little like a lounge atmosphere. The position of the different table is also different from all the Michelin star restaurant in Belgium. The service was also really good.More

Richard was recommended by a Berlin based German work colleague of mine. Weeere delighted with his advice. The restaurant and team take themselves quite seriously, but the food was superb. We do not speak German but were given excellent wine recommendations and had a first...rate dinner. We will return next time in Berlin.More

The menu design at Restaurant Richard makes it slightly difficult to understand what is available at which price. Various different courses are designated as 'starter, middle, main, and dessert', but this is not marked. All of which would be fine if the waiter was prepared...to have a conversation about the various options, but ours wasn't. All we got was: 'it's up to you, what do you want?' Similarly, when trying to have a conversation about which wines might go nicely with which course, the response was: 'I need that wine-list for another table'. For a fine dining restaurant boasting a Michelin star, this is an absolutely woeful level of service. We sat for 5 courses overall, and were in the restaurant for nearly 4 hours, which is far, far too long. The food itself was very nice, but not wonderful. Using huge quantities of butter in everything is a very dated cooking method. Given the price, I would expect a much greater degree of experimentation and creativity, as opposed to the well-executed but relatively unimaginative dishes which we were served. Overall, this was a really disappointing experience.More

Do not judge the book by its cover .... I started with this because when we arrived in this Restaurant, it looked bad outside due to some works and we thought uhhmmmm let see... When we entered the real thing started, we were warmly greeted...and escorted to our table. The place was busy for a rainy cold evening. The waiting staff clearly explained to us everything and how ordering of food and making your own menu works — both in German and ENGLISH. The service was good and yes a bit slow because this is how a Michelin Restaurant is supposed to be. -The presentation of the food -The serving of different drinks as per the food being served -The explanation how it has been prepared And how they check on us if everything is okay ..... all very good. And the Food? very delicious and super tasty as we expected... We chose the 5 course menu and we were really impressed and happy that we planned to experience this Restaurant. We will definitely try again if we will back in Berlin. (Apologies my photos not so clear as I just used my iphone - it does not give good justice to this amazing place but I will share anyway)More

This restaurant seems not kind for foreigners who cannot speak German and the food was not tasty at all. We needed to call the waitress many times to get menu, wines, bread and so on... Food serving here are too slow and it took three...hours to finish our dinner. When we asked the wine to the waitress, she said she does not drink so she does not know which one is good. For the dishes, we did not taste “umami” and it was really hard to believe that the restaurant took Michelin star. I cannot recommend you to the restaurant. It’ll be waste of money and worst experience.More

Arrived in Berlin last week for my birthday celebration with my husband - food was exquisite, attention to detail and service impeccable, decor was bold, interesting and certainly a talking point as art should be. Thankyou especially to Hans himself for the flowers and cake.

The restaurant isn’t on a street that you would expect and hidden behind large wood doors. Opened up into a beautiful modern designed restaurant with existing listed ceilings. Greeted with a friendly smile and looked after throughout the meal. Never had to ask for anything...and were attentive. Great 7 course tasting menu and amazing wine choice for our budget. The wine was so delicious we ordered another bottle. There were courses we did not expect to enjoy but were fabulous. The menu set us back around £150 per person with two bottles of wine. Would definitely recommend to friends and foodies.More

Generally good food, good service, adequate prices and an interesting restaurant room makes for a good but not exceptional Place for dinner.

Let’s face it, Berlin certainly isn’t the culinary capital of the world. We had some ok meals, but then we discovered Richard (thanks very much Luxe Guide). What a treat. We wanted somewhere very special to spend leisurely time with foodie friends we only see...every two or three years. Richard proved perfect on every front with wonderful wait staff taking us through the degustation choices. I’m not sure how anyone could go beyond the four courses we had. Everything was perfect. The wine list is very extensive and from the three that we tried, very well compiled. Well done Richard. Worth coming back to Berlin forMore
