Located within spitting distance of the Brandenburg Gate, near the French and American embassies. Small menu of local dishes. Nice curry wurst, but main course lamb shoulder was a bit tough. Friendly staff.

You couldn't be more in the centre of It all. Tucher is located next to the famous Brandenburger Tor. You can either sit outside and watch the many tourists that have fun here, or sit inside in the well decorated restaurant. Prices here are a little higher than elswhere in Berlin, but compared to cities like Paris and London they... More

Great location, located next to the Brandenburger Tor with view on the Pariser Platz. There also is a terrace at the back of the restaurant. We had a very nice currywurst. Service was OK, but the toilets needed cleaning!

Like an earlier reviewer, we went there on the recommendation of the Guardian. What we got was OK but nothing special. My wife enjoyed her salmon but the lamb shoulder I had was average, with ordinary green beans and ordinary (micro-waved, I suspect) potatoes au gratin. Place was attractive but not many people so lacking atmosphere. Wait staff were friendly... More

Food was amazing, although the service could have been a little better. We went for dinner on a Saturday night in winter, there is no need to book as the restaurant was practically empty.

Situated by the Brandenburger Tor this restaurant promised to be a tourist trap but what a great surprise. Charming staff and friendly service. I had a potato soup followed by the inevitable currywurst. The soup was hot and well seasoned and the currywurst was just as I expected. Prices were fine - recommended.

We came here on our first day for some lunch and it was a nice start to the holiday. It was busy but its a big old place with plenty of tables. We received good service from our female waiter and had a few pilsners and weissbier, with a club sandwich and a currywurst. It was all good and tasty... More

Do not go near this restaurant next to Brandenburg Gate! Waiter intentionally spills food on coat and STEALS wallet out of purse hanging on back of chair as cleaning!! You hear about this stuff and in a lifetime of travels, first experience like this. 5 seconds right under your nose! Credit card attempted use at ATM within hour by thief.... More

This is a wonderful location, in the corner right next to the Brandenburg Gate. No motor traffic; sheltered from wind; and in the sunshine with a great view of the world passing nearby. Very good service, food and drinks; and considering the prime location it was not over-priced.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
