The food was great and the location is perfect ! Rood waitress , it took them an hour to clean our table and then they mistaken our food and they did not accept to change it to what we have ordered.

This place has a good terrace and decent drinks but the food and service are subpar for Berlin. There seem to be a lot of tourists there so maybe they don't care?

I ate here twice. Dinner and breakfast. Dinner can be a bit pricey but the meal was well worth it. It got a bit busy but the wait was not too terrible.

Unfortunately the staff is totally unprepared to cater for coeliacs. They first told me there was NOTHING I could eat from the 12 pages menu they have, then the waitress admitted she didn't know what gluten is and then sent me a colleague to tell me that I could only eat their very simple and expensive salads. I decided that... More

If you are planning to visit the Eastside Gallery make sure to stop and have lunch at Pirates. There is a wonderful view over the river and it is right next to the Eastside Gallery. Waiters are very busy on the sunny Sunday like the one we visited but friendly. Food served very promptly. The service was better than in... More

Went here with friends when we were visiting the Berlin Wall. The restaurant was nice, service was quite bad. Seemed to be only 2 women serving and it was very busy! Our food took a while to come, we had to keep getting the waitresses attention to get more drinks, which would take forever to come. Quite expensive too for... More

Pirates building is part of Berlin history as it was created as a granary, destroyed by bombings during the World War II then became a watchtower during the Cold War. To-day Pirates is a touristy and busy place next to East Side Gallery and Berlin Wall remains. It's a mix of ambience, rustic country indoor, holiday camp with a sandy... More

Popped in here for lunch biggest mistake of our trip! When we arrived the venue seemed very nice... quiet. We ordered 2 burgers and a chicken burger which for the price we were expecting to be made in the restaurant. They weren't frozen bought in patties. My friend cut her chicken burger open only to find the middle of it... More

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighbourhood Profile
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
