Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Came here on our first evening in Berlin. We had booked a table as it happened to be valentines day. Thank god we did!! It's obviously very popular with both visitors and locals, and with good reason! The food is delicious and traditional and the...service is very friendly. I had schnitzel, absolutely lovely and a massive portion, my boyfriend had a very tasty roast duck dish with potato dumplings and red cabbage, also delicious. The Austrian red wine we chose was also super tasty! Highly recommend, do book!More

Had arrived in Berlin early in morning after 24 hours of air travel. Now was early evening and very jet lagged. Went to restaurant which was empty about 1730. Staff very kind and helped with language. Ordered quickly and food given good advice about wine....Food arrived quickly and was very good. Restaurant had filled up but staff still very helpful. Very nice experience and hope to revisit.More

Superb! Enjoyed the Pork knuckle. The salads were excellent too. Met Chef Vivek, an Indian, who makes possibly Berlin's best German food!

Excellent food and right now have a big extra menu with the seasonal speciality mushroom, pfifferlinge (chanterelles). Lovely meal outside but I specifically wanted to mention the care they took over our friend who has a nutmeg allergy. This spice is often added to mashed...potato in Germany, she asked, they said yes it is. She was going to have plain boiled potato but the chef made her a portion of mash just for her without nutmeg. She loved it and felt very well looked after. They were busy but took time to care for their guests. Well done.More

Excellent German food. This restaurant is clearly very popular with locals and one can see why. The food is traditional with a modern twist, the ambience is charming, the area is lovely and upmarket, and the service is exceptional. Portions are generous.

This is the best food from our 5 day stay in Berlin. Incredible service and friendly waiters, lovely ambiance and all three of my family members ordered something different and they were all our favourite meals of our trip. Highly recommend this restaurant - seems...very traditional in the best way.More

The food was all right but what did upset me, was the behaviour of the staff staff. Please note: I did work in Germany so I know that customers might decide to give a small tip(usually) but the the waiter did tell me before I...paid the bill: you must give me a tip! I usually give tip but this time I did not!More

When I read about Eastern Prussia cuisine, my expectations were set high. I don’t know what went wrong, maybe I picked the wrong dishes from the menu, but it was not a great dinner at all. After very tasty ginger tea with honey, my first...meal – Danziger Stremellachs – hot-smoked salmon with graved sauce, baguette, and butter, was a total failure. Store-bought dry salmon, store-bought sticky sauce, and lots of green salad served on a ridiculously big plate. What was that? A salad? It could be if salmon was mixed with greens. An appetizer? Too large portion. I wanted something from old Gdansk (Danzig) and got a cheap version from the supermarket. I don’t understand the idea of this dish. The waiter asked about the origin of the main ingredients, clearly embarrassed, lied to me, and tried to be overly funny until the end of the evening seeing my disappointment. My second choice – meatballs in old East Prussian style with boiled potatoes and beetroot was the best. Although the meatballs were a bit bland in taste the beetroot salad was to die for and its strong taste went well with the meat. I hesitated to order dessert but Silesian Poppy Dumplings were tempting enough, not only because I am a resident of Silesia. It could be a great dessert but the poppy seed was rancid and stale. I left the restaurant angry as the price range did not match the food quality. I will not go back to this restaurant for sure.More

Visited in a big company. Service was fast and the food was great. I would go back for the schnitzel with a wonderful potato salad. If Bjorn is there when you visit, he will make the experiance special. Great service, lot's of fun!

Great food and great service. We ate there twice and both times it was delicious, and the service was very friendly too. Great value. The Kaiserschmarrn is particularly delicious.
