Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Typical German brewery with restaurant. Interior original. Food normal quality, but not amazing. Service not very friendly, you really feel specially welcome here as a tourist

Really good food and the place doesn’t look like it has changed in 50 years, should be noted that they do not take card payments but there is an ATM 50 yards away

This is the first restaurant that I had horsemeat which is what the sauerbraten is made from. It is a little-known (by tourists) but well known with the locals. The food was really good and the building is old and very scenic. I reviewed this...place 5 years ago but it went to TA's draft file. If it's still open, it's probably still really good.More

Haus Töller is a travel back in time. A typical Rustikales restaurant. Once in you will be amazed at how many tables are available. The menu is on the table, a small and attractive menu. On the wall, a blackboard is mentioning the daily (meat)catch....I can recommend you to go for the Kotelett (it takes 45 minutes to prepare, go early at 5 pm and you will have your dinner at 6-ish pm if there are not too many other people walking in). Another great choice is Hammchen or Kasseler or Schweineschnitzel. Anyway, you can't go wrong. Have fun and bring an appetite. There is only one dessert mentioned on the menu and it is worthwhile ordering.More

Nice, old, traditional local bear pup with the best Kölsch in town! The food is great and the plates are huge!

Lovely little brauhaus - great waitress was understanding of our poor German! Can see it is very popular with the locals and very much off the beaten track for tourists. They were very accommodating for us contrary to the other reviews we saw on here....Food was brilliant - HUGE portions. Can recommend the schnitzel.More

Absolutely the worse. I wouldn’t even call a restaurant. The most terrible experience in my life. Example we waited more than two hours when she replied you didn’t wait two hours to wait one hour and 55 minutes.

We went to this place with costumers. After two hours without food, our costumers had to leave. The most embarrassing feeling. After 3 hours they served us schnitzel, but without potatoes. That came later. The staff didn’t apologise and we still had to pay full...price. Never coming back.More

Visited Haus Toller for my 2nd time this week. The first time was a couple of months back and was very busy, we waited almost 2 hours for food, but every table was full, we arrived without a booking and the food was good when...it arrived, so I let it slide. This week, I'm not so forgiving. There was maybe 1/4 of the people that had been there the last time and still we waited 1 and a quarter hours for our food, it's really unacceptable and unless someone drags me there, I won't be going back, despite the food being pretty tasty.More

The Haus Toeller is a very urige Cologne pub with long benches and simple tables. It serves typical Cologne specialties which come in huge quantities. Some of the dishes are acceptable (e.g. Bratwurst, Eisbein) but others are simply not good tastewise.

I had read up about Haus Toller back in my home town of Liverpool and was looking forward to visiting here and I was not disappointed in any way. Housed in a 14 century building ,the interior is your typical brewpub with superb decor and...furnishings including old photos of Cologne, maps and interesting Old hand write notes left by previous patrons of this tavern. This brewpub is famous for its great German meal menu and serves one of the best Kölsch beers to be found in this city namely Paffgen Kölsch. This brewpub offers a laid back ambience away from the madness of the big squares were the Christmas Markets were in full swing. We were here on a busy Friday night and this place was packed,we very luckily managed to get a table were a very pleasant member of staff took our order of a couple of beers and we opted to have a beer widely available throughout Cologne namely Pfaffgen Kölsch and these delicious beers were served iced cold and sparkling and we just chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub. Pfaffgen Kölsch is a superb Kölsch beer,it's got a beautiful taste and is very easy to drink,we ended up staying here for three beers each before we moved on and for a first time visit we were very impressed with the great tavern Haus Toller is really easy to locate on Weyerstraße . Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday,5pm till Midnight. A great brewpub and well worth checking out.More

Food was excellent, lot of meat preparations as well as lot of Cologne bier. We went there with our local friends. This is a historic and very traditional Brauhaus. You will find 100 years old pictures of this place on the wall. As this one...is mentioned in Michelin book, they are very busy. Therefore go with a reservation...More

We tried this place 3 times and they told us they have no free tables when we could clearly see they did. This is unacceptable and truly offensive. We only realised they did not want tourists/foreigners after the third visit. This is nasty and horrible...and not a representation of Germany. I wish there was 0 stars to review them but 1 out of 5 will do.More
