Comfortably the best beer in the city limits... food is good, insofar as it is good-quality Brauhaus staples, but service excellent and we had a great couple of hours drinking beer in a well-lit covered biergarten at Carnival time. It's a short walk further from the centre, but very manageable and well worth it.

I came here for drinks before going out to dinner. I loved the beer, it just kept coming and coming, and we drank those little glasses fast! There seemed to be good banter with the waiters but as it was all in German I couldn't understand it! I'll come here again, no doubt. My friends thought that this placed served... More

Here you can taste the best Kölsch in my opinion. It's quite interesting. You can sit on a barrel and have a beer. It's nice for foreigners to taste the beer since 1 beer is juat 0.2l and about 2 euro

The room and decor are reminiscent of a beef hall with long rows of wooden tables and chairs, wood panelled walls. Old art etc. Service was brisk and friendly. The menu was traditional fare. The stand out was the fried black pudding with apples and sauerkraut. Home made beers compliment the food. Overall recommended.

We visited here on our first night in Cologne, we did not need to prebook. Got a table in the terrace part out of the back (which is indoors, but has an outside feel to it) there is a tree in the middle of the building encased in glass. We all enjoyed our meal and our local beers, was very... More

Very good beer and traditional German food on offer. For those who enjoy beer, meat and potatoes, it's an excellent choice. Big beer hall style with plenty of noise and good atmosphere for an afternoon or evening social meal with friends.

This is not a place for the feint hearted. Basic tables and chairs, waiters who take no prisoners and food that has as its basic function fuel. Accept this and you will have a ball. Going there for gastronomy will disappoint.

Visited tonight based on reccomendations on here and it was only a few doors down from hotel. Was thankful to find a table as even though only 5.30pm it was busy. Waiters very helpful and understanding being as we didnt understand any german, they provided us with an english menu too. The beers came automatically but other drinks were available.... More

We stumbled across this beer hall by accident - you would not notice it going along the street. Just two big wooden doors but what a find. Great atmosphere - locals - more so than tourist. Great staff and.
