I came to this place on my own and had a very lovely oven baked goose. Service was fast and I could pay with my visa without a ny problems. The decor is worth a visit.

Situated in one of the side streets of Mainz you will find Helig Geist. The name means Holy Spirit. It is a church converted into a restaurant. The interior of the old church remains intact. The service is good and the food is excellent. 3 of us ordered different mains and shared. All 3 dishes were excellent: marinated beef which... More

It's one of my pit-stops while in Germany. Great food and great beer. Make sure you have a reservation, otherwise you might be left out.

This restaurant, "Holy Ghost" in German, is situated in a former meeting hall/chapel of an ancient but now-destroyed hospital. The place is dramatic. Tablecloth-dining quality food is served in a separate area within the larger hall, which serves as a giant bar.. Snack foods and breakfast are served in the bar area. The prices in both venues are quite reasonable,... More

Lovely building and interior. Quite a big restaurant and therefore busy and a bit noisy. The menu has some great choices and the quality of the food is very high. Definitely worth to go. Service is friendly. You can also now pay with cards maybe in the past only cash was accepted.

main reason for visiting is the location which is inside an old church; as others have indicated the service can be slow and you generally need to pay in cash; food was quite good overall

Had dinner at this restaurant in the heart of Mainz. The restaurant itself is worth a visit. It is in an old church that over the years was renovated. It also has s great long bar, if you only want a drink. I found the service to be very erratic and slow. The servers were nice, but they just need... More

Have been at the Heiliggeist many times of the last 3-4 years. Staff has always friendly, accommodating and very efficient. Slextion of beers great, especially, with the addition of the IPA. Every dish i have tried was deligious. Wonderful to sit inside and in the yard.

Beautiful setting. Menu options good and they have a well prepared allergy menu....but if you are gluten free there were only two options.....bratwurst or carpaccio. Service was very slow......it was very busy and friends who have been before say its's normally faster.
