Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a fantastic waitress, Katarina who was very welcoming chatty and helpful. Soups were good. German dishes were traditional and fine but avoid the bread dumplings if I were you! Overall a good time made better by the waitress! The wine selection is good.

This place is busy so I recommend you book ahead. The decor is a o pretty and oozes with character. Very attentive and helpful staff. We had the venison stew and cordon blue - both were outstanding!

This is a lovely historic restaurant. Beautiful setting, really good food and friendly staff. Mixed grill was a bit of a disappointment if you expect a big plate of meat but the rest was really good

Worst experience in Europe. The host was rude to us at the start and it kept on going throughout the dinner. We couldn't wait to get out of there. The food was subpar-it didn't have much taste.

Delicious Dinner! We had their French onion soup to start followed by veal cordon bleu. For dessert, I had apple strudel while my husband had cheese cake. The waiter was superb and atmosphere was lively and everyone was enjoying their evening.

Underwhelmed and under sauced is how we can sum up our dinner. After reading good reviews and then having to make reservations and come back another night, we had high hopes for a birthday dinner. The onion soup was delicious like others have written. Service...was friendly but very forgetful. We ended up with one wrong dish and no sauce at all for our plates. Our server didn't check in once the whole meal so we couldn't even ask for any sauce. Ultimately, it was a very expensive piece of dry fried meat without much seasoning and some unseasoned fries on the side. We didn't even get to sit in the main room with the cool ambience but a little corner breakfast nook of the hotel. All in all it was fine but not at all what we had anticipated.More

The restaurant was fully booked ( Monday evening!), but we had reservation and were shown to a pleasant table. My main course was delayed (the order was incorrectly entered into the order system). The waiter immediately explained what had happened, offered a round of drinks...and sorted it out asap. It was pleasant to experience real customer service and professionalism. I tried to leave a tip, but it was turned down as ‘unearned’. This is a (busy) place to visit!More

Very good German food, excellent regional wine and beer, friendly staff who spoke perfect English. We came here with a child and a baby, the whole family enjoyed it very much.

The restaurant offers a great atmosphere and authentic food paired with a friendly and helpful service. All orders went through quickly despite a crowed dining room.

Dinner was very good, my steak with chanterelle mushrooms was perfectly cooked, salad and bread were fresh and delicious. Vegetarian meal was also very good and unique, rouladen of oyster mushroom, cream cheese and cucumber was tasty, as were roasted chanterelle mushrooms. Wine and service...were good, atmosphere in old world dining room added to the experience.More

A terrific location for this charming German restaurant. Just off the market square. Staff was friendly and helpful and some spoke good English. Food was yummy. We had 3 different entrees and all were first rate.

This is a great restaurant in the old town city. The service was very friendly, the menus good especially for local seasonal food! Great beer from own brewery. The hotel in the same building is excellent! A must visit place

We had a very nice dinner on a warm August evening. Sitting outside and enjoying Trier. Good food, nice beer and the local Mosel wines.

Lovely food but not fantastic. We ordered German Schnitzel, to taste one of the country’s national dish. The taste was god and we enjoyed both the food and the local Mosel wine. The service was smiling, excellent, observant and quick. When we come back to...Trier one day, we will defiantly visit this restaurant again 😊More
