Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went for lunch in this Italian restaurant. It was busy but we managed to get a table in this cosy place. The service was friendly and efficient. We had two aperol spritz and ordered one large diavola pizza and one salsiccia e porcini pasta....We both agreed that the food was authentically Italian and delicious. We had a carafe of primitivo red wine with our mains too. We really enjoyed our dining experience and recommend you give this place a try.More

You get what you should expect when entering an Italian restaurant. The dishes we ordered were classic Italian and not “Germanised” as sold in other places.

We ate the worst pizza in Trier. Ham, sausage and other ingredients were of poor quality. A normal pizza costs around 15 euro and our expectation was completely different. Never return there!

Had to give it 2 stars. Might give it 2.5 if I could. Very slow service in a half full restaurant. Waited an hour for the food and the starter salad arrived 2 minutes before the main course. The most Italian about the restaurant was...the menu in Italian. Our meat was overdone, the salmon was under, completely raw in the middle. Poor selection of wines and even worse selection of beer.More

While visiting this lovely city you need to eat pizza at this restaurant. The size is impressive! They are also delicious and good value. It’s one of the oldest Italian places in Trier. We are always happy to go back there.

First of all, it is hard to find a good Italian restaurant in Germany. But this restaurant absolutely nailed it! The pizza was baked in a stone oven and tasted how a pizza should taste. I would absolutely recommend this place.

We went for some Italian food at Da Franco. Looking at what the other guests where having, we decided to go for a pizza. Pizza's are available in 2 sizes and the smallest is already 5 cm larger than your normal pizza plate that it...is served on. The crust is lovely and thin and toppings are plenty without becoming to thick. I had the large pizza and finished it without having the feeling that I had eaten too much. Pastas looked delicious as well but I did not try them. The next evening we ate across the alley and noticed that all tables were full at Da Franco. I think that means a lot when locals go there....More

This is the only Italian restaurant in Trier with an internal decoration similar to those in the South of Italy. Every time we have been both service and food were good, plus well presented.

Been in da Franco for the first time on September 22/18 and found both food and service very good. We also liked the atmosphere and the way the restaurant has set respective tables. My lunch at that time was spaghetti with moules. Have returned on...27.10.18, over one month, have asked for spaghetti with moules and presentation, flavour and overall quality was as good as on the first time. As for the red whine the Chianti is good and 0.25 is only 5.50E, while in other places this is the value for a glass of the same whine.More

First time in this restaurant located in city centre. Nice internal decoration having internal and external tables. We arrived on Saturday 22.09.18 after 13H30 and had a table available. The service was good and attentive. As we have asked for grilled fish and spaghetti with...mulles, it is normal to wait a certain time as these are meals that even at home take time. Both dishes were delicious.More

From the outside it looked a very nice restaurant so we decided to go in for a meal. Worst decision we made. Left waiting for 25 minutes than a Stoney faced waitress came over to us to I thought to take our order but after...one minute said that she would be back which never happened. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyoneMore

Pizza was okay, nothing special would have expected something better from a fire stove. Prices are not high but I assume they use cheap ingredients. Service was slow and the lady pretty rude and unfriendly.

We were surprised to find very good pizza in Germany. The Lasagne was very good; hot, full of flavour and not greasy. The pizza had lots of toppings (combinazione) and the crust was thin and not chewy. It was one of the better pizzas we...have had in Germany.More

Never in my life have i experienced such a rude and unfriendly service. We ordered a pizza and a spaghetti carbonara. When the pasta arrived, it was frankly speaking nothing but a bowl of tasteless pasta mixed some bacon, parsley and with scrambled eggs (clearly...seperately prepared). We make the waitress (who was even the owner, small older lady) aware that we are not happy with our food, and she reacts by starting an argument in the restaurant- claiming that this is how a spaghetti carbonara should be done. Since 40 years in the restaurant. We were utterly shocked that service can be THIS bad. Despite the pizza being good, this is not a place that i will ever set my foot again!More

On a very cold day, "pizza da franco" provided a warm space, a very large pizza and a lovely local white wine. Lunch was very enjoyable - staff were a bit perfunctory but certainly no unpleasant.
