We ambled in the narrow streets of the Juderia in Cordoba and came upon this bodegas where there was a good cross-section of clientele...younger & older couples, families and locals. We had no reservations, but after a few minutes wait, we given a table for 2 on a slightly raised platform right beside their wine wall feature. We were pleased. Menus were available in a variety of bilingual formats.. Spanish plus English or French or German. We shared a salad a Racion Remojon, which at 9,35 euros was a little small, but quite good. We both chose the Rabo de Toro, which is bull/ox tail stew, a typical Andalusian dish, full of hearty flavour and quite a generous portion, served with patatas fritas, but unfortunately no vegetables. We both thoroughly enjoyed it and it went very well with the vino tinto we had chosen...Tomar Munan. We completed our meal with a tarta de galletas and a leche frita con helados, both of which were quite good. Service was attentive, though non obtrusive. Our total bill for all this was 66 euros, taxes incuded. We recommend it.

We stopped for lunch at Bodegas Mezquita Cespedes after a number of failed attempts to find a nice place to eat with non-meat options and we were very pleasantly surprised. The lunch was delicious, the service friendly and helpful, and the price reasonable. We did not intend to have dinner at another restaurant in the same chain, but after a disastrous dinner at a sidewalk cafe that turned out to be a tourist trap, we saw it and came in for a second dinner. Our dinner was at least as good as the lunch, also with several very good non-meat options, which can be a problem in Spain. When I ordered the wrong wine, the wait staff replaced it without any problem with another glass of wine of my choice. As with lunch, the food was delicious and the service friendly and attentive. We loved this place.

This restaurant was part of a chain and we found the recommendation on Trip advisor. We were very pleased. The service was good and the waiter was very helpful In ensuring we didn’t order too much food. We appreciated that. The food was excellent and it was very good value. We would recommend giving it a try.

The cheerfulness and sense of humor of our server, Natalia, contributed to our overall enjoyment of this dinner. She recommended white wine we liked that went well with tapas of potato salad with tuna, mushroom croquetas, and albondigas, as well as with our 1/2 portion of oxtail stew and full portion of grilled chipirones (squid.) Our compliments to the chef, Antonio.

We had a lovely meal here during our short stay in Cordoba. Our waitress was called Susana who had a great sense of humour. She was very attentive and was able to keep us right with what to order and in the right amounts. The food was lovely and is probably the main reason it was so busy and popular, both with tourists and locals. It is situated literally a few metres from the Mezquita in the heart of the old city. Would highly recommend.

To be able t enjoy, you need to take the time. Not that the service is slow, but to get the Andalusian feeling. Be carefull: if you want the size of a tapa, just mention it otherwise you will receive a portion (a half of a portion is already big), BUT they are kind enough to propose you to take the rest with you. Wine: excellent

Dined here tonight as recommended by my hotel receptionist. I didn't realised there are four branches of Bodegas Mezquita! So I picked the one en route to the Mezquita. I arrived after 18:30 and there were only two other couples in the restaurant. The waitress, Nataoe was friendly and helpful with excellent customer service. (Chef Antonio)There was a good selection of tapas and main course. It was a good sized restaurant and the tables well spaced out. I had Andalusi chicken and couscous with vegetables and grilled squids. It was tasty and the chicken was so tender and so were the squids. Nataoe kindly offered a 50 50 drink, a mix of dry white wine and sherry! Yes, a great place to dine but come early to enjoy the peace and quiet!

We came to this restaurant after booking online. The table was immediately available and they gave us the most beautiful table in the room. We had come here to taste tapas but perhaps the expectations were too "normal" because we ate one dish better than the other. In a nutshell: AMAZING! Our waitress Anais was fantastic. Professional, kind, nice and very good at suggesting both dishes and wine. By the way, the wine she suggested was a fabulous Casa Villa-Zevallos. As for the food what to say? Chef Antonio delighted us with his typical Cordoba dishes: salmorejo, remojón (typical Granada salad with oranges and cod), mix of cured meats with Iberian bellota pork the best in the world, meatballs with almond and saffron sauce, the legendary berenjenas califales (fried aubergines in batter with a reduction of sweet wine), sauteed squid, fried cod with pepper salad and a pork cheek cooked at low temperature with a cinnamon sauce that melted in the mouth. In the end we were so satisfied that we gave up the dessert. But the sweet Anais wanted to end the dinner with a surprise: a delicious liqueur obtained with half fine wine (similar to cherry) and half tinted wine (similar to porto). We loved it. Anyone passing through Cordoba have to stop at the Bodega Mezquita Cespedes. It is a unique experience to taste the fantastic Andalusian cuisine of Cordoba. Thanks again to all the staff but especially to chef Antonio and Anais. Muchas gracias !!!!

We were tempted inside after an introduction at the door. It was quiet at first but quickly filled. We chose the set menu (sharing each dish) rather than tapas and weren't disappointed. Service was both efficient and friendly. Antonio took our order and the first course of a delicious hot stew and four cheese salad arrived quickly. Our main courses were just as tasty especially the cod. With a couple of desserts, bread, a glass of wine and a local liquer/wine offered by Monica to finish and all for €34 we were nicely full and ready for a siesta.

My husband and I were on a short trip to Cordoba and dined here on our first night (5/2/20). There is a very good reason why this restaurant is rated so highly. The decor is bright and airy and the staff very pleasant and efficient. The food, though, is when it really comes into its own. My husband, a picky eater normally, opted to try the Oxtail stew, which was accompanied by chips and, wow, did he make short work of it. I was impressed. I had the most delicious lamb with a spiced couscous that contained both sultanas and nuts. Normally, I'm not a lover of fruit in savoury dishes, but there was only a judicious amount and it worked. Husband had a large Cerveza and a cup of coffee. I had two large glasses of wine. The bill came to around E35 and we left feeling happy and stuffed to the gills. A very good experience in every sense.

We had excellent food here--Moroccan influenced dishes that were interesting and well prepared. Unusual for mid priced restaurants in Spain, we got a fresh bread basket that included home made crackers. The service was friendly and efficient. One of our better meals in Andalucía!

Went there with three friends in the evening. Lovely tapas and wine. All staff are v friendly. Our waitress Pepa and chef Antonio. We have been in their other restaurant the previous evening and the waiter who served us there remembered us and said hello too. Good value and a chilled night out with great food and service.

Tapa food here was pretty good and I would have ranked 4/5, but for the terrible service. Our waiter appeared to totally ignore us for long periods. The restaurant was nearly empty and yet it still took us over 20 minutes to order dessert. Same with the bill, in the end we had to just walk up to the bar to pay, as we had been waiting around 15 minutes just for him to bring over the card machine. Such a shame, as the food and restaurant itself were really nice and in a great location near the Mezquita.

This restaurant looks very similar to the many touristy tabernas and bodegas of the city center of Cordoba, among which it’s hard to decide where to stop eat. The service, thought, is very accurate (in our case, Alvaro served us and was very kind), the menu is typically Andalusian, but with some highlights that distinguish the restaurant among the others. For instance, being a little tired of fried stuff, we had very good tuna with mojito sauce and grilled baby squids. Prices are in line with the rest of the center: we shared a starter, had one main course, one glass of wine each and shared a dessert for around 40€ total. Only idea for improvement: softer lights would make the place cozier and more elegant!

I booked a NYE dinner at Bodegas Mezquita. The service was lovely, very attentive. The food was so-so. I should have known going in by more carefully examining the posted menu, but there were almost no vegetables served (I remember two small potatoes, that's it). The seafood crepe was salty to the point of being inedible. Would also recommend they create a chef's table for other solo diners.
