Our travel guide book mentioned this restaurant to try before leaving Cadiz and a recent Rick Stein programme we saw on BBC showed him eating fish in Cadiz, not at El Faro I don't think, but somewhere very close by. So we were on a day trip away from our base in Seville and thought we would give it a... More

I was after a long walk and have been recommended this place by a lovely local lady I humbled across on the streets nearby. I came in just as they were opening the restaurant for lunch time. I ordered 3 tiny sized tapas dishes: Tortilla de Camarones Unidad, Patatas con Melva and the Humus de Berenjenas Pulpo with a Sangria.... More

Not impressed. Expensive. Awful bright lighting and no ambiance. Food was good and service was pleasant but We paid over €100 for shrimp fritters, two large grilled prawns, hake in a sauce, grilled vegetables, and a dessert to share, plus two glasses of wine and some water.

After a disappointing dish of paella in Sevilla we asked around about the best local paella, and we were steered to the El Faro restaurant in Cadiz --- we were Not disappointed. We parked in the old hospital parking lot a few blocks away on the coast road and walked to the restaurant. Our party of 5 included our two... More

Visited the tapas bar and enjoyed good quality food and efficient service. Busy and with a nice buzz, lots of locals as well as a few visitors. Reasonable prices.

Great location, service a bit slow if you are sitting outside. Great value, for a typical local menu. Would return.

A group of us (4) went for a 2PM dinner and with a small entrance it was surprising to walk into this large and impressive restaurant - nice wood finishes and lots of photos signed by visiting celebrities and locals. Appetisers - pulpo salad (just octopus and mayonnaise) was very good; the pulpo was the softest I have ever had.... More

I booked a table for 9 a couple months in advance and specially mentioned was an important family reunion. The day was 25 December and when arrived we found out they had placed us in the worst possible place, where people and waiters were continuously passing by. The restaurant was fully packed and perhaps due to that the quality of... More

Description
El Faro de Cadiz is located in the traditional neighborhood of "La Viña", where Gonzalo Cordoba started with a small bar decorated as a sailor tavern, with nets and fishing stuff, with few wooden benches and tables. The customers came in search of the famous fried fish, called "pescaito frito" daily carried by fishermen of "caleta" beach. His daily concern and desire to excel led him to transform the local expanding and providing modern facilities. Now retired, his spirit of service and commitment to others is part of our principle to keep shining gastronomically Cadiz and we are proud to continue this work. El Faro Cadiz is still committed to the tradition to move forward and offer the best of our sea and our land to our clients.
