Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I went to this restaurant with three friends last night but certainly won’t be going back! The waiter rushed us to place our order. I asked for a ribeye steak. He told me they didn’t have that, so I showed it to him on the...menu. He said “they’ve changed the name of the steak again!” I ordered it medium rare and after battling with it for ten minutes I gave up. I had indents in my fingers from pressing so hard on my cutlery in an attempt to cut it! It most certainly wasn’t a ribeye steak, it was full of sinew and tendons and imposible to cut. I sent it back, the waiter clearly wasn’t happy and brought a slab of the uncooked meat to the table to show me “that it was a good piece of meat and the cooking process involved for me asking for it medium rare was the cause of the toughness”. What nonsense! As we were leaving (shortly after), we got an outburst/lecture on what “bulls**it Brexit was, brought about by a minority of people who wanted it, and who are causing problems for the Spanish in London by telling them they have to speak English”!! Really?! I wanted a quiet dinner with friends, not to listen to a self indulgent, opinionated waiter!! It really was the most awful experience, between the poor food and rude staff - we certainly won’t be going back for a repeat!More

For the price a very very good choice for anyone looking for local fare. The cod with seafood sauce was amazing. Perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The seafood paella was fantastic (maybe a bit salty but they like their salt here). One is the best...Caesar salads and a super mouse for desert. Decaf coffee so tasty.More

Went to see the Christmas lights in Malaga, with Family and stayed on to have an evening meal. El Rescoldo looked very nice as we passed and we decided to eat there. We were shown to an outside table by a very surly man in...a suit. He took our drinks and food order(eventually), we asked if they did garlic bread, he said yes and walked off (we didn't get any). The food, we all had pasta, was below average for the price, 54.80 euro for 3 people. On paying the bill the waiter in the suit did not turn away as I was entering my pin number. He was staring at the card machine and I had to pick it up and hide it from his gaze, whilst entering my pin number (how rude). A lovely day was spoilt. I would not eat there againMore

Had a lovely table to sit outside and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere. The staff were friendly although it did take quite a while to be served and to receive the food we’d ordered. The steak was delicious and full of flavour and the vegetable paella...was flavoursome and enjoyed by my vegetarian daughter.More

Our server pretty much ignored us. Three tables that sat down after us got their food first. Had to ask for extra water twice. There were portable fireplaces to heat the tables outside, asked to have one moved to our table, he never did. I...moved it myself, then it went out!. Asked to have it lit, no response. After our food arrived the lady at the next table asked her server to ask our server to light the fire. Our server did not do it, a fourth person lit it. That being said, the food was very good. I had the hake, daughter had the salmon. Wife had the carbonara, it needed seasoning. The bolenase wes good.More

Quite simply - don’t go there. A very badly run restaurant with rude, unpleasant staff. Not a happy team. Service is almost non existent, many items were no longer available but we weren’t told until 15 minutes after we ordered them. Wish I’d read the...reviews on here first.More

My wife and I ate here on the last night of a 6 night stay in Malaga. We both agreed that this was the best dinner /food we had during our stay. My wife had the Dover Sole and I had the Angus Steak. Both...had excellent flavor, and were accompanied by a nice medley of fresh vegetables and Lyonnais potatoes. For an appetizer, we had the onion soup -- it had a nice blend of saltiness to balance its pepper/onion. For dessert we had the Sacher torte -- a perfect ending to a very nice farewell dinner in Malaga. As for the waiters -- they provided us the right amount of attentiveness. My overall observation of the wait staff in the Malaga restaurants --- keeping in mind we ate nearly 18 meals -- is that if you don't speak fluent Spanish wait staff tend to pay less attention to you. This is not being derogatory to the Spanish staff -- I have found this to be true in many of the restaurants in foreign countries I have visited.More

Found this restaurant some years ago and now visit it annually when on holiday . It is in the heart of Malaga ,not far from the Cathedral . Our choice for lunch is usually a selection of cheeses and cold meats and a bottle of...red wine . This time we had selection of croquettes instead of meats . We asked for extra bread rolls , crusty and warm and bottled water .Daughter had a sweet Malaga and we had coffee . We were then presented with a small chocolate ice cream and shots of orange liqueur . Fearing they were preparing us for a large bill we were pleasantly surprised to find it was only €65 !!llMore

This is a restaurant to be avoided. The food was bland, over-cooked, tasteless and expensive. All of the food we ordered tasted of olive oil which overpowered any other flavours. A very disappointing experience.

Positives: good location, menu selections, quality of food and wine. Negatives: EXTREMELY surly waiting staff! Not a smile, lack of eye contact even when the children thanked them in Spanish it was not acknowledged, waiter left us half way through taking our order to take other...customers to table and offered no apology on return, didn't offer wine list we had to ask, charged 9 EUR for bread rolls that we didn't even order they were just put on table, ordered chips to go with fried seafood selection and even when reminded they didn't appear until we were all finished our meal, asked for 2nd bottle of wine and never appeared, not once we're we asked if we were enjoying our meal! We were in Malaga for the day and as it was our 41st wedding anniversary decided to go for nice lunch. The attitude of the staff was appalling, so much so that we decided not to order other food or drinks and for the first time ever I refused to leave a tip! Had the staff been more attentive, we would have ordered more food and drinks- we would have turned a 115.50 meal into at least 200eur and left feeling we had celebrated. Front of house staff are letting the kitchen down. I am returning to Malaga in June with 3 friends and will DEFINITELY not be returning here.More

Situated in the heart of Malaga this restaurant is in a great spot. Five of us had a fabulous starter and main meal with decent wine at reaonable prices. However, that's where it ended. No waiter or waitress then came back to the table to...ask if we wanted a dessert or coffee. After 30 minutes we then just asked for the bill. Perhaps, it was becuase they seated us at an end table in the outside street but no excuses, very poor service.More

The restaurant looks great and good location. Our waiter reminded me of Basil, a well-Done steak was practically raw, I didn’t get the chips I ordered and then got rice pudding instead of strudel! I kid you not. So, my advice is point out each...item on the menu, don’t misinterpret a nod from the waiter as he understands.More
