For a late drink stop at El Pimpi. Always busy but waiters are efficient and nice. Good sherry and vermut. Excellent tapas. Don’t miss it the atmosphere is typical. Have an evening out the Spanish way.

We originally got warned off El Pimpi as being too touristy, however after visiting we realised why so many people flock here. We enjoyed our time at El Pimpi. Inside, the decor is a must see, even if you don’t eat there. It’s full of...More

A visit to Malaga is never complete without a drink in El Pimpi. I have been visiting for many years and it is nice to see how the bar and restaurant is getting bigger and bigger. This does not change the feeling of the original...More

Excellent food, excellent staff. Not my first visit but firist review. Excellent location for Cathedral, Roman sites, Alcazar and the Castle. Not far from Bull Ring and the port. One problem........ The Flys covering the outside eating area perhaps would be better inside. It shorten...More

Was really looking forward to eating here as it topped a list of places to eat in Malaga. The prawns were not good, thick brown lines in which squirted out when eaten - urgh! Steak was ok but they got our orders mixed so we...More

I just love this place. Malaga trips are not complete without at least a daily visit here. Grandmas croquettes and the samorella (maybe spelt wrong 🙈) are to die for. Cava €13 per bottle with uninterrupted sunshine... I’m booking my next flight tomorrow!

We enjoyed a great lunch here. On the expensive side but the food was very good and the service attentive.

El Pimpi has a stylish indoor decoration and classic outdoor tables. Service was quite fast and meals were delicious. Most people on our table tried mixed fried fish for two and everybody was pleased.

I visited El Pimpi because I heard lots of recommendations from my friends. When I finally got there the service was little bit disappointing and the food was good but not excellent. The food was also little bit expensive compared to the quality and the...More

This restaurant was buzzing! The waiters seemed to move at 100mph. We both had fish which was very tasty. The portions were large enough that we could have easily shared and added a salad. A great place for people watching.

Description
This emblematic wine cellar built in an old house from the 18th century is a meeting place for people of all ages. It has welcomed many generations of artists, flamenco dancers or politicians. It is named after formerly popular city figures called 'los pimpis', young people who had helped ship crews or passengers and had become the first city guides. It is furnished in the style of Malaga, and offers local wines and delicious gastronomy which is very popular in the city. The soul of the restaurant is the lounge with the vintage wine barrels, signed by famous people, such as the family Picasso, the painter Barcelo, the bullfighter Cordobes, The Duchess of Alba, Carmen Thyssen and Antonio Banderas, who show the historical value of this place. This establisment is in the old town of Malaga, next to the Museum Picasso, La Alcazaba (the Citadel of Malaga) and the Roman Theatre.
