After a long day exploring Seville we were heading back to our hotel San Gil when we decided to rest for some unplanned drinks at Bar El Ambigu, sitting outside. The lady that served us (think her name was Eme??) was so friendly, cheerful and...welcoming, she made us feel relaxed and although our Spanish was VERY limited and her English was also limited, she took time to try and explain the different dishes they had, so we thought we would give some a try. I went for Rice with Alioli and Prawns (8 euros, rise so soft and prawns fresh, so nice!), my sister Hake Loin in a Pesto dressing and salad (11 euros, two loins cooked beautifully, no bones, cooked to perfection), my other sister a Spanish wok style dish one with prawns and one with beef (5 euros each). All of us really enjoyed the food, the first two dishes were larger plato's and the wok style dishes smaller (but ample!) Our visit here was so enjoyable, lovely food, wonderful staff and such great value for money!!More

Visited here tonight. Like a sixties tapas bar . It’s very traditional in the best sense.! Tapas dishes we ordered were delicious and very reasonably priced. Service was friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend a visit

bad service: disrespectful waiters, prices too high compared to the quantity, low quality food, the only appreciable thing was the place where it was located, and also the toilette was dirty

The place is “a hole in the wall” - unpretentious, unnoticeable, modest, and a bit dilapidated. The head waiter looks like a cross of Mephistopheles and Penelope Cruz but treats his customers with warmth and respect. Food is really good: spinach was out of this...world and chorizo - the bomb. This is Andalucian cuisine at its best!More

My parents loved this place on their last visit so I went along. The food is local, traditional and prices are tailored to locals (not tourists) so really great value. The waitress was really helpful ~ we explained in broken Spanish what I couldn’t eat...and I managed to find three dishes that were naturally vegan friendly - spinach and chickpeas (a local favourite), asparagus on gazpacho and mushrooms with a garlic sauce and a little rice. It was simple but delicious. My parents loved their meat and fish options and have gone back again this evening to enjoy more of the tapas.More

The menu of the day was nice, simple and tasty. Combo : entrance + main dish + desert or coffee (excellent by the way).

Very traditional tapas place. Exactly what I was looking for, rustic and simple food but excellent. Best tapas during my Spain trip and ridiculously cheap

4 days in Sevilla by myself, and every lunch and dinner serves an important role. Nice place of warm cheece with jam and other was some sort of fish. Friendly owner helping out, since the tapas menu was only in Spanish. Good experience all together!

This is a proper Spanish bar with really good value food which is a great place to people watch when the Thursday flea market is taking place. There are a handful of tables on the street adjoining a couple of market stalls. We stopped for...a quick drink and spent a couple of hours people watching and in the end enjoyed a four course lunch of the day including tuna starter and tilapia main course for nine euros- incredible value and very tasty. The bar is at the northern end of the market and is a perfect place to grab a drink or bite to eat after visiting the flea market. Hercules square is nearby and is well worth a look - great boho vibe and super rooftop bar at El Disprate.More

We had a couple of dishes. We had a cod and shrimp with mussels and rice. Both were good dishes. Unfortunately we were early by local standards. Next visit I will go after 10 pm to get a better sense of the place.

We visited on a Saturday night, and there was a great family atmosphere. The food was sublime, with choices from a comprehensive menu with great specials. We took advice from the fantastic waitress, who recommended the duck breast, which was beautiful, and a range of...fish and vegetarian dishes. We finished with cheesecake to die for and local ice cream. The wine was reasonable and decent. The price was incredibly reasonable. If you're in Sevilla, seek this unassuming little cafe out. It encapsulated Seville for us.More

We were drawn inside by the amazing smells and the chickpea starters. And we had a meal we'll never forget. Basmati rice, aromatic peppers, a hint of chilli, generous shrimp and loads of love. A perfectly cooked blue sea bream on a bed of fragrant...couscous. It was unbelievable. We couldn't manage dessert but the puddings looked amazing. Fast service. One waitress even spoke English, and was a huge help in ordering. Don't miss this.More

We went to Sevilla to visit the markets and my wife mentioned how she ate at this place years ago and really liked it so we stopped in. We got super simple traditional Spanish dishes and they were all delicious. A lot of restaurants in...Sevilla try to hard on the simple Spanish dishes and this restaurant doesn't and it is delicious. We had spinach with garbanzos, artichokes, and couscous with scorpion fish. Our friend wanted to try something alittle different so she also ordered the tuna tataki. The tuna wasn't as fresh as it could be but it was seasoned and seared very well and the wasabi Ali Oli they pair it with was great. I would say if you visit this restaurant, stick to the traditional dishes and you won't be disappointed.More

After 20 days od travelling across Spain and Portugal and eating at different tripadvisor recommended places with at least a score of 4.5, we accidentally came across Bar Ambigu on our last night, and decided to give it a chance. What an amazing place! It...was certainly the best choice we had made in 20 days. They have an English menu, but the daily tapas are written on a board in Spanish. Since we cannot speak Spanish, we asked the waitress if she could bring us 4 tapas of her choice. What we got were huge portions of the most delicious food we have tried in weeks. Well, when we asked for the bill, we tried to guess how much it is going to be. We missed by half! Seriously! Paid half of what we were thinking we are going to pay. And the food was so so so good. Highly recommending this place. It is worth flying to Seville to eat here and go back to wherever you came from!More
