Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you want to experience tastes that restaurants rarely offer you, Eslava is the place for you. Enjoy the egg yolk on boletus cake, squid ink cigar, onion braised blood or old cheese ice cream. These dishes are prepared to perfection. The more common dishes...are tasty as well, but are not as inspired. The staff is great. Even when it’s really busy because of Semana Santa, they’ll still try to bond with you by making jokes.More

Went on a Friday evening at 9pm to the tapas bar. We added our name to the list...3 other names in front and waited 20-30 minutes to get a table; all very well organised and no favours, you wait your turn (despite people who knew...the waiters turning up...they still wait their turn). We sat at the bar (where you can eat too) for a little while whilst waiting for a table. The waiters/resses are great, really friendly and helpful, offering wine and food recommendations. We had 5 tapas dishes (including pork in honey sauce and homemade croquettes), 6 drinks and a dessert (nougat ice cream with hot chocolate sauce) for €33. The food was really really nice, and the atmosphere was great...chilled (no pressure to rush our food and wine) and vibrant (seemingly a number of locals out for dinner too). The only negative are the toilets are not the best, small and messy (toilet roll on the floor). The best meal we had in Seville: very possibly, can't think anywhere they beat it for taste, atmosphere, service and cost. Highly recommended.More

This was by far the best food. I had eaten in Sevilla in four days. I am quite accustomed to Spanish food but the quality and the different takes was amazing. Some almost Michelin level I would highly recommend you have to book to get...in or wait stand at the bar.More

Visited at lunch time without a reservation and were able to get seated at the bar. Staff were great and friendly. Service was quick and efficient. The food was good with some unique tapa dishes!

Eslava, created by two dreamers in 1988, is one of the best establishments in Seville in terms of taste. His award-winning tapas “Egg Yolk On Boletus Cake” is one of the best tapas I have ever eaten. Slow-cooked egg yolk on boletus edulis sponge cake...and caramelised wine are palate-pleasing. However, my favorite is still the tapas called “A Cigar for Bequer”, prepared with Smooth bechamel with squid ink, cuttlefish and seaweed wrapped in pastry. Especially the Aioli that comes with it is a wonderful complement. Contrary to such good food, the service quality and the attitude of the staff are quite bad. We continue to see sullen faces and grumpy waiters at every visit, no less than the previous one. It is also worth warning about making a reservation: Even if you make a reservation, it does not mean much as they only receive customers depending on the density. It is quite difficult to find a table after 20:30. There are also budget-friendly prices and a well-selected wine menu.More

We stopped here for our last meal in Seville. We opted for the croquettes, salmorejo, duck magret and Iberian pork. All very delicious. Reasonably priced and a good selection of wines too.

We could not reserve online and nobody answered the phone. However, because of the reviews, we decided to stop by. the waiting time was more than 90 minutes (but we went around for some aperitives). Then we could sit outside and could enjoy, let's be...honest, very good tapas. Not the most basic, but not overdone. Perfectly balanced tastes, OK service, correct prices. Not sure if it is worth to wait for 90 minutes, but if you manage to book in advance or you don't mind waiting, here it is a good place for dinner!More

Absolutely delicious! Highly recommended . . . if you can get a table. We were lucky, arriving early in the evening without a reservation. After a short wait inside, we secured a table outside. The staff is efficient and willing to make recommendations or describe...the delicious tapas. Everything was meticulously prepared and the flavors were outstanding. By the patron photographs, it appears that everyone orders the egg with mushroom cream sauce. We did and enjoyed it so much that we ordered a second one immediately. Numerous wines by the glass are available.More

Curiously, I tend to review restaurant standouts. Perhaps, it is because I don’t want to discourage others who may have different taste or requirements. So, after a trip, I generally share best experiences first. Eslava was a best culinary experience and, as you will see...from our receipt, the Euro went a long way! We dined indoors which was comfortably tight and friendly. The late lunch service was smart and very attentive. A couple selections were no longer available, but the menu offered plenty of options. Among our selections, the highlights were the award-winning Cigarro para Becquer (bechamel with squid ink, cuttlefish and seaweed wrapped in pastry) and the best cured salmon we’ve ever eaten: “marinated salmon with aromatic herbs served with yogurt and lime” (see photo). Eslava definitely deserves five stars!More

We could not get a reservation at Eslava on line so decided to walk by and try our luck. At first, the staff indicated no availability but then we were directed across the street by the church and a table was placed there. Soon, other...tables were set up, filled, and it was lovely. We ordered the beef tataki and grilled sardines but the server came back and said both were sold out. So we ordered the salmorejo, smoked salmon, the egg with mushroom spongecake, the cigar, honey ribs and fried sardines. The salmon was good and the egg dish was interesting. The salmorejo had an odd flavor. The cigar was unremarkable. The ribs were tough and the sardines were dry. Our experience, overall, was average at best. Would not return.More

1. Was the food delicious? Yes! The gluten free food was easily identified on the menu, I ate there safely, and I enjoyed every bit of tapas I ordered. 2. Was the service good? Yes very good! She was incredible patient with us whilst we...utilised the smattering of Spanish in our arsenal. My only gripe was that one of the Tapas dishes I ordered wasn't available and they forget to take it off the receipt, unfortunately I didn't notice until I got home. However, the Tapas is really cheap so it wasn't a huge loss. 3. Was there a nice atmosphere? Yes, we went around 10pm, which is when eateries tend to be busier in Seville, and there was a good buzz. 4. Did it have a beautiful decor? We sat outside, and we liked that the table had a section for our handbags. It's a nice area in which to sit outside. Can't really comment in what it was like inside. 5. Was it worth the price? Yes, we were all really happy with our food.More

Eslava is a wonderful place to share excellent tapas on one of the six tall tables along a narrow cobblestone street in a quiet neighborhood. Arrive by 6:45 p.m. if you want to be seated at the bar or on the sidewalk or at the...bar without a wait. It is worth the wait. The tables inside require a reservation. It overlooks a small square with a church. There was a colorful wedding. We were the only tourists. The service is crisp. Save room for the deserts.More
