We were sharing meals and the staff kindly served us half each without asking. We were being extremely English and arrived at exactly 8.30 as we were starving by then. We also asked for butter with our bread which they kindly melon balled for us. We had lovely jamon, black rice, bacalao with crab pil-pil, suckling pork and a cheese... More

Over cooked cod and dangerously burning hot plates. Appalling mains and desert. The good aspects: Jamon starter, nut bread. I would never go back. Disappointing 23 year wedding anniversary dinner. Maybe chef was absent. The food was dreadful.

It is worth booking to try and get a table on the lovely terrace overlooking the river. Unfortunately although we had booked it was a Friday night and the terrace was full. The tasting menu was interesting and included local dishes which we both loved. It is incredibly reasonable - if I recall correctly it is less than 40 euros.... More

Excellent standard. Sofisticated cuisine. Polite and welcoming staff. Wonderful location and terrace ovelookimg the river. Currently, a new museum is under construction next door. So the terrace can be noisy at times, but we were able to relax and enjoy our meal. They were welcoming with our children and explained the different dishes to them.

We were staying in a nearby hotel and dropped in on the off chance on a Wednesday evening, having not booked anywhere to eat. We understand this place can get busy on a weekend and we feared we would be turned away. As it happens, the reverse was the case and we were the first to arrive at 9pm. Two... More

Very enjoyable lunch on the terrace overlooking the river. The food was exquisite, the service friendly and attentive - I really can't fault the place. 😄

Centrally located top quality restaurant. Hardly any English spoken but that doesn't stop them being very friendly and very helpful. We went for the €40 chef's choice that was varied, interesting and very tasty. Service was first class and the wines that they recommended good value and superb. We would go,back any time.

I have to say this was one of the most incredible restaurants I have ever been to. I go to Bilbao regularly as I have family and friends over there. My friends decided to go out and dine at a nice restaurant, so we checked out trip advisors to find one of the best. We were a bit apprehensive as... More

I went to Bilbao for the second time recently, this time with work so, as I had eaten at Baita Gaminiz previously on a personal trip, I booked a table for 4 colleagues and I. Wow, not just as good but even better than last time! I don't understand why this restaurant does not have a Michelin Star. I have... More

Tonight was our first night in Spain on this around-the-world food trip and we were excited to visit Baita Gaminiz as it was highlighted in "Where Chefs Eat" and the Michelin guide. Given it's the middle of August the city was completely empty and we booked only one week in advance. I asked for a riverfront table and was confirmed... More
