Behind an unassuming front, there is a small pintxos bar and if you walk through, you get to the ( limited seating ) restaurant. The tomato tartar, kokotxos and crab lasagne wre all superb, nicely presented but without pretense. Good, affordable wines. Very friendly service, with the owner repeatedly checking if all was OK. Very modest prices for the quality... More

I will go back! The food made the unmemorable setting worth it. The staff was helpful overall, but the food was the main star of the show. We had various dishes, but the pork cheek was amazing. I encourage a visit here!

It was our worst experience we have had in Europe. Firstly the customer service- there wasn't any unless you were a local. The server would take our empty glass and not even ask us if we would like another drink. We had to get up and ask for a drink whilst locals were getting their drinks topped up without them... More

Lots of good pinxos in San S, but this one is one of the better ones. Busy but worth it. Recommended.

Having been fortunate to visit San Sebastián a number of times and sampled pintxos at many bars, I've developed a preference for the bars in the Gros area, and this place stands out in particular. Ignore the counter top pintxos and order the special pintxos from the menu. The ravioli of wild mushrooms merits special mention, but in general the... More

THE BAR : The chef at the back won a Michelin star in 1994 at the original Hidalgo when it was owned by his parents. Today Juan Marie Humada continue to produce Michelin quality pintxos and regularly hosts meetings of the Gastronomic Association of San Sebastian, while his wife and sommelier Nubia Regalado works front of house. The pintxos here... More

Blood sausage pintxo is strongly recommended! The staff was lovely and friendly during my stay. Filled my wine glass quite high without a blink and were very kind to my solo traveling. I asked them for their recommendations for the rest of the pintxos and they were more than pleased to select everything delicious for me to try. I have... More

Classic French food meets Basque cuisine in this pintxo bar. We prefered The Gros to the Old Town, less turisty.

The food was ok but the service so rude. Obviously aren't fans of tourists, and not subtle in showing it. Not recommended for visitors

.....but I like it! That is the only English the owner / chef Juan knows! Great guy. Luckily his wife who runs front of house speaks perfect English! Amazing food. Extremely interesting & well crafted. Great choice. The place has a lovely vibe & is very friendly! It's in the Gros area which sometimes doesn't get the same attention as... More
