Excited to arrive based on reviews but that feeling quickly left. Placed at table beside a speaker which was far too loud and could hear self think. The staff member did get this turned down quickly though but the scene was set. However we were...offered water for the table, which we accepted, believing this was complimentary...its not. €3.50 a bottle which is clearly refilled from a large bottle and wasn't even cold. Then for food. Had Prawns in tempura batter to share between 2. 6 prawns total for €23...overpriced for what you got. I will.say though that they were very tasty. For mains we asked if the chicken breast was on the bone, told no yet when it arrived it had a bone sticking out it. Totally off-putting for my wife who can't eat food when bones are involved. The chicken was cooked well however was bland with no actual flavour on it or with the sauce. I had the sirloin streak which was a 50/50. Initially looked a good size and was well cooked until got halfway through and realised the rest was fatty. I understand sirloin will have fat but this was ridiculous. Ordered 2 sides, truffle man n cheese and chips. Chips portion was so small and not really enough for 1 never mind 2 people to split. And for €7 a rip off. The mac n cheese didn't even use proper macaroni and was mini tubes with again no flavour of truffle or even cheese really. Service not great overall either and sat with plates for a long time on each course before having to call over waiter to remove and eventually get the bill. Wouldn't go back at all, overpriced and very disappointing. Thought would be like Miller & Carter at hour but not even closeMore

A friend recommended The Merchants to us, because we wanted somewhere special to celebrate our Birthdays together (we were a group of 6). From the moment we walked through the door we were treated like VIPs! The staff were all very friendly, professional and knowledgeable,...and they interacted with each other as if they were one big family. The restaurant is beautiful, with a great atmosphere for a celebratory meal and drinks. The food and drinks were delicious! For anybody looking for one place to eat in Palma for their holiday treat, I would highly recommend The Merchants.More

From the warm welcome to the beautiful decor, this was an amazing lunch in the heart of the dining area of Palma. Ive been dying to try this restaurant as it was recommended by a friend who also lives here in Palma and what a...treat. The service could not be faulted, attentive staff at all times, we paid for the bottomless lunch and were surprised we could have all the wines and Cava, so we did. Not once did we need to ask for a refill, the starters were amazing, we paid extra for the TNT prawns and they were delicious. The meat cooked to perfection and sides made it a very substantial lunch. A big thank you to Fabrizio our waiter, amazing service by yourself and all the other staff. To finish we had Irish Coffees then Expresso Martinis at the bar, they too were top notch. Thank you for a great afternoon.More

My husband chose The Merchants Steakhouse, based on reviews and it was easy to book online for a Tuesday booking. We were with two friends (5-day Birthday celebration) and we chose either steak or salmon for a main course, which we all enjoyed. There's an...additional €5 charge each to sit in the garden area which I found unusual. Try the grilled cabbage with anchovy mayo as a side. I would definitely have a steak there again. The service was fantastic - couldn't fault it. One of many good restaurants in Palma.More

Very cool surroundings with very attentive staff. Now for the best bit the food…Fantastic! I had the rib-eye steak cooked to the chefs recommendation and it was delicious, the fat was beautifully rendered and meat medium to rare and there was a very nice peppercorn...sauce not that the steak needed it. My wife had belly pork again cooked to perfection with a beautiful crisp crackling. Sides were truffle and Parmesan fries and Mac and cheese some of the best we have had. Unsurprisingly no room for pudding unfortunately. This place can easily hold its own against the gaucho’s and hawksmoor that we have back home.More

We were recommended by friends but I don’t know why ! Our waiter was perfunctory, the food came too fast and was very average. There are better places for the money than this.

We were recommended this restaurant by friends. We did pay extra to sit outside, which is strange but worth it, as it is lovely. We had a bottle of fizz and I had the rib eye & my friend ordered the fillet. Unfortunately this is...where the disappointment starts. The fizz was not cold which we pointed out to the waitress but she just offered to put the bottle in a bigger ice bucket. We ended up asking for ice to put inside our glass, which isn’t quite right! Steaks, well whilst delicious, they were not hot. We actually sent the sauces back as they were cold! It felt that the food had obviously sat there for some time which in a restaurant of this standard is clearly disappointing.More

Very disappointed, 5 euros per person to sit outside, its Spain we sat outside ever night at other restaurants and didn't pay extra, staff were unhelpful, almost rude, food was overpriced and small portions, eat at far better restaurants that made us feel welcome, with...good food, also they add a service charge without telling youMore

We went to this restaurant as it was recommended by friends… and it surpassed our expectations!. Not only was the food delicious, but the atmosphere and ambience was conducive to a perfect relaxing dinner. I would really like to commend all of the staff, and...in particular Christina, Isael and Natalia. Christina greeted us in a most warm and genuine manner, outlining different seating options, and accompanying us to our table. Isael and Natalia were both so professional, knowledgeable, customer focused, and friendly. We had such a lovely experience that we visited the restaurant a second time during our stay in Palma! Thank you so much to all of the staff who are such an asset to this establishment, and we are certain to return soon.More

We called in for a nightcap as we saw on the notice board that there was a roof top bar. We were taken up by a lovely young lady. We were a little disappointed as it wasn’t the setting we were expecting and we certainly...couldn’t see the cathedral as advertised downstairs but decided to stay as it was getting late and ordered two glasses of wine and a small water. The wine was nice enough although not a very generous measure. We couldn’t believe the bill when it came as it was €25. I queried this as we were leaving and the manager came over. I was really upset by his attitude. He was almost laughing at me as he explained that the wine was only €18 but we also had a bottle of water. So, €7 euros for a small bottle of water? This is certainly not somewhere we would recommend.More

Good food, bad customer service! Me and my partner thought we would treat ourselves to a meal here after hearing lots of positive reviews. When we arrived, we had to pay an additional €10 to sit outside. Not long after, one of the waiters knocked...over my partners Beer which broke the glass all over the table and went all over my lap. We were moved to a new table and had the drinks replaced. When the bill arrived there was no amendment to the bill as a way of apology. I questioned them on this and they reluctantly took the service charge off. When the waiter came back he wasn’t too pleased. On the way out I spoke to the manager offering feedback that from a customer opinion, an acknowledgment on the bill of the drink spilt all over me would have been appreciated. He was smirking at me the whole time, replying ‘we replaced your drinks’ to which I said yes well they were knocked over by your staff. I suggested offering taking off the €10 fee for sitting outside would have been the bare minimum gesture which could have been offered. Again the response was a very sarcastic ‘I can give you the ten euros’ Over all great food, rude manager and little in way of apology. If I was covered in noticeable red wine or created more of a fuss I wonder if it would have been any different.More

We have being at Merchants few days ago, the location inside is nice but... The manager that was there and in general the atmosphere is not nice and very strict. We called the restaurant in the afternoon and asked to stay in the tables outside,...and the lady told us ok in case of free tables outside, but since they would have close at 11pm, she told to came to dinner at about 9:30 max. We went at 9:30 and therefore there were tables outside, they told us No because the area was about to be close.. but we said it was ok for us to eat quite fast.. but they came twice to tell "no ladies", in a quite rude way. After, they told us we couldn't smoke even in the outside part of the restaurant, and we had to go outside on the street to smoke an IQOS. Then, I asked if I could put my phone in charge and they told "let's see if it's possible"... I mean, in a luxury restaurant is the minimum. In general food was good, prices a bit high for the service and quantities, the place itself is not relaxing and the service is wrong.More
