Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

La Mejillonera is a plain bar with a steel and tile decor. There is no pretence of style or comfort and this is a no frills bar where you come for simple beers and a relatively small choice of tapas. As the name of the...bar suggests, mussels are the speciality of the house although we opted for the fried calamari instead, which was perfectly tender and delicious. Whereas the lady behind the bar was a friendly soul, we got stuck by a morose bloke who was monosyllabic at best, or simply just rude. But hey - he might just have had a bad day, and it didn’t spoil our visit. We would certainly come back again.More

We have will pass this place lots of times and it was always bustling with locals. From this, we drew the conclusion that would be really good. The lunch we had that though was good but certainly not great. It is a rough and ready...place but the service was fast and friendly. We opted for the potatoes in alioli which were average and the speciality of the house, the mussels were fresh but the sauce tasteless. It’s not the cheapest place in town either so we won’t be rushing back.More

They don't do much food - mussels ans calamari - but what they do, they do well. Simple and cheap. Highly recommend.

One of those typical place you have a drink and tapas standing up with friends. Noisy, crowded, good mussel finger food and drinks. Just by the cathedral in case you are lost.

We visited La Mejillonera one night attracted by the idea of eating some squid, octopus and mussels, the only kind of food that they serve. However we were not very happy with the experience overall - they serve the plates with abundant hot sauce, which...is not the best thing to do as you miss the delicate flavour of the dishes. Also, the service was just average - there was a football match on TV and the waiter was simply not paying any attention to the customers.More

Great idea, lousy execution-all the guide books tout this place but not sure why. It is a bit unique as it mainly does mussels, as its name implies. Most Marisco places serve a wide range of seafood. The sauces were unremarkable, the fries soggy, but...the bread was awesome and the wait staff attentive. Go to A Coruna for seafood, the Gallegos do it better.More

I went twice, because blue mussels were fresh and delicious. Because there was a list of menu, it was easy to order.

We went here with our Spanish-speaking guides, who did the ordering for us. I can't remember the names of the dishes, but everything was absolutely delicious. We had a salad with calamari, beef with potatioes. There were so many wonderful dishes at a great price....The chocolate soup, though, is a must.More

Think no further, this is the place you want to head to while visiting Burgos... at least if you like mussels. They serve them in a variety of ways and they are absolutely delicious. Go for the ones with a "taste of the sea". I'd...go back!More

Stopped in for a cup of Ribera (good Roble), and ordered a racion of steamed mussels. Mussels were very good (though I left the one that was a weird tan instead of orange) for less than 3 euro.

One of the best and most typical places where locals go for an appetizer before lunch. For me the best are the patatas bravas and the mejillones (mussels). Tasty and affordable.

I agree with a previous review, make this your first tapa bar of the evening and you won't be disappointed! They source their mussels from the nearby coast, easily some of the best mussels I've had anywhere and you can't beat the buzz of this...place. They run a tight ship, and the lighter nature of their offerings makes this a smart choice to start off a great night in Burgos!More

Loved the bar seating and personal attention of the barkeep; spicy sauce was only mildly spicy, but still good. Wished there were a few more varieties of sauces. Good for a quick snack or larger meal.

Get here early as it's popular!! We missed out on our first night in Burgos as it was way too busy. The following night we got a seat and were wowed by the food and atmosphere. First off we had eight of the marinara mussels...with a couple of glasses of the house white. Next, the picantas ones with a beer. The mussels were so fresh and tasty, the service and atmosphere great and the bill €10!! An amazing place.More

Great tapas beneath the cathedral, packed by Burgos inhabitants. Excellent mussels, original recipes. Loved it. You'll be glad to stay half an hour for a couple of tapas, a beer find another nice place !
