We were feeling very cold and wanted some soup, so were delighted to find that the Alt Heidelberg had Hungarian Borscht on the menu. It came in large bowls, piping hot. Just what we needed. We also had some patatas bravas and excellent brie - don't know how it was cooked, but it was very hot and excellent. Staff were... More

It's always been there as far as I remember. Their wursts are among the best and it's all simple but good. Service is efficient and fast. A good place to eat after hours!

We’ve eaten here several times over the past few years and have always found the food to be very good. You can eat cheaper at the bar but we’ve always eaten in the dining room. The service is good and the prices are reasonable. I’ve always had the bratwurst and it’s great! The German beer is good and cold. If... More

My wife and I ate here while we were in Barcelona. There is an extensive menu and you can either choose to eat at the bar (cheaper) or at a table (more expensive). We were happy to be served at a table and found the food that we ordered to be freshly prepared and quickly served, with huge portions of... More

Delicious bratwurst, excellent kartoffel...I thought I was in Germany for a while, the food, beer and decoration transport you to Bavaria. This restaurant has been a huge favourite of mine for many years and Barcelona seems to agree...77 years old and still going strong. Some of the staff is working there for almost 40 years, if that doesn't speak volumes... More

We mistakenly thought this looked a good choice after a tiring first day in Barcelona. Expensive steak which wasn't very nice and the waiting staff were pretty off. Didn't bother complaining. Steak and a few chips is what we got, the wine tasted cheap and nasty too.

It's been there forever. A typical german beer restaurant where everything is good: sausages, swine axe, potato salads of all kinds and beers, lots of beers. Great place for a quick lunch of dinner.

My husband, 5yr old daughter and I were sightseeing in Barcelona and needed to take 5 for a sit down, bite to eat and drink. We stumbled across Alt Heidelberg and were primarily looking for tapas. We decided to give their special a go which was a generous lunch and drink with a choice of beer, wine or water. Excellent... More

This cute little gem is perfect for a delicious beer and a German-style hot dog. Their patates graves are delicious. Highly recommend their desserts as well as a special digestif from the northeast region of Spain, near Bilboa, it is highlighter yellow in color...delish! As for the rest, nothing to write home about but I am 50% German and accustomed... More

We called into this Restaurant several times during our holiday, excellent food, impressive beer selection and amazing food. We sat by the bar watching the chef preparing sausages and burgers. We did not expect to be drinking Czech beer in an Austrian bar in Spain, but the atmosphere was friendly and the staff were cheerful and helpful. We ate by... More

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
