This is a real find! Our guide from Hidden City Tours shared this off-the-beaten-path gem with us. In spite of the name, there is an authentic Spanish menu. The chef makes delicious, authentic paella to order, for less than 6 euros a plate. They also have a very wide selection of empanadas. Great for lunch- so much better than spending... More

For many of you, this place may not be fancy enough. I must admit, we were a little apprehensive at first. But the food is totally awesome, the service is great. This is a family business and this family is a hoot! Oh, and it's inexpensive. Easily the best value we found during our month in Barcelona.

I have been in this restaurant during couchsurfing event. We drunk sangria and tried several tapas like bread with tomatoes, baked pepper and aubergine or some kind of pastry with spinach and eggs. all so delicious. But real star of evening was paella!! Full of flavour! at the end we got crema catalonia - recommended by lonley planet. it's not... More

If you wanna see the B Side from BARCELONA, this is the Place!! So far away from the fashion places, the food it´s a real tribute from our Grandmothers (Avia in catalan it means grandmother). Mario & Gabriel are so polite, warm and amazing mens. You eat in an awesome place for few euros (give them tips, they deserve it)

So we trekked miles to find Arume but the wait was 90 minutes so we booked for another night and crossed the road to this fabulous place... We were welcomed with open arms, ate authentic Catalyn food and were entertained by the atmosphere... Great night out...

We went to the restaurant almost every day during our trip to Barcelona, because it offers very tasty food at low prices. You might get a more fancy Paella in other restaurants in Barcelona, but they will cost at least double price and the flair won't be as nice. The stuff doesn't speak English, they only sell few dishes they... More

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
