Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Came here because I heard it was a friendly traditional Catalan restaurant. For breakfast they suggested Lam's cheek and trips "intestines" i had the lamb's cheek (shown below) but not the intestines because my brother would not eat it haha....We lso had some type of...sausage with beans that was ok and obviously miel y leche (their version of flan). All in all VERY friendly and patient staff. The owner is a amazing guy.... would and will definitely return. It seems to me they love tourists visiting them. Anyway check it out....Oh and I heard you should eat the lamb's cheek with Vino Catalan(wine). You can see it below....Price was very very cheap....all around greatMore

Old and classical place to eat catalan food. The decoration is really simple, with a lot of tables. The prices are very low but the dishes are not really big. Meatballs dish had only 4 balls with no sides and the “bacalla a la llauna”...was very small portion. Anyway, the food was delicious.More

Popped in for a small breakfast and ended up eating two delicious plates (sardines, tripe) and half a bottle of wine. Must try if one is interested in traditional caralab cuisine in a truly local atmosphere.

Worth to come here if you are staying around sant antoni area. I had breakfast here and the food was excellent. Nice place to have breakfast. I ordered sardines with toast, cod fish with white beans, sausage with beans and croquette.

Read some reviews of this place and went to try. Ordered 2 dishes, the fish with their signature sauce and the pork sausage with white beans. surprised with the taste as it is indeed very home cooked. Would love to try other dishes. do note...that if you order water, they charge you water per head that you might as well order something alcoholic or caffenaited so skip the water as an order. Will recommend for the food and try not to get the seat by the door as it gets cold with all the opening and closing.More

The place was packed and full of locals, which is always a good sign. Many of them seemed to be regulars. I hadn't booked so had to wait a few minutes for a table but they found me one as quickly as possible. Service was...friendly but efficient, both in taking the orders and delivering the food. Dishes are traditional Catalan food; everything I had was excellent and very reasonably priced: three courses plus a coffee and a bottle of wine came to under €20. Some minor words of warning for the unwary, however: The staff speak limited English so if you have no Catalan this could be a challenge. They are happy to try to accommodate tourists and they do have an English menu but it seemed not to be completely up to date. Probably at least half the dishes contain offal of some description, so if you don't like that you might struggle to find something you like. None of this bothered me in the slightest but tastes do differ.More

Before visiting Barcelona for our sixth time, we accidently watched Guy Fieri do a TV show about diners in this wonderful city. He highlighted the Can Vilaro and we vowed to give it a try. Luckily we arrived shortly after 2pm to a full house...of local patrons sitting for lunch. We sat at the bar for a short period and watched the action before a table was ready. My wife ordered cod with aubergine, zucchini, garlic and tomatoes and I ordered liver and onions. My wife claims that the cod was the best she has ever tasted and my liver melted in my mouth. Both dishes were traditional Catalan food and delightful. All in with 2 vermouth, 2 beer, a water and a side dish of white asparagus with our entrees was 30 euros with the tip. The family were friendly, efficient and most accommodating. Everything is done with a warm smile. English menus are available. Once the Sant Antoni market finally opens, this venue will be impossible to get a table so visit now when you have the chance.More

This place is simply excellent. One of my favourite restaurants in Barcelona. Catalan food at its best and simplest. All dishes are good for a taste of local food. Good price BTW.

Really really good traditional catalan food. We got super tasty "trinxat" with bacon, rabbit with herbs and for the first time, I tried lamb cheeks. Everything was pretty amazing. I loved the lamb cheeks since it is a kind of fatty meat and about the...rabbit, it was the oily for my taste but still with very good quality. For dessert, we got a typical mel i mató. I really recommend this place to have an experience of the real catalan cuisine for a very reasonable price. It is difficult nowadays to find these kind of restaurants in town. Not very recommended to vegetarian people.More

I was not sure to load my opinion of this place... to protect the place from the tourist... finally I decided because it's a great place to share ... and I'm sure that the people who will go there try to feel like a local......;)) It's a very basic place, the product it's excellent and the service it's very close and helpful, the price it's great. Same product in a more "lelegant" place will cost double or triple, it's the point of this placeMore
