Wow... this is an experience! I definitely recommend this place. One of the oldest restaurants in Spain... from the moment we started walking to get to this restaurant..z then we were greeted nicely. Who would have thought this large 3 stories high restaurant would be in this place. The food was great and the wine... the sangria... the desserts....wow! Definitely... More

We found it in Lonely Planet as the oldest restaurant in Barca. At 9 p.m. there was a spectacular queue but all people had the seat. We ate delicious sea and land soap and pastis, catalana cream. All tipical local food well cooked and served in a flash. Maybe the best choice the we tryed in Barca. The Barrio Gothic... More

Recommended by Spanish family friend. Reserved table which was just as well. 9.00pm 50+ people queuing outside, initial thoughts "oh no bad choice". Wrong, doors opened our table was reserved, waitress told us this was normal when we asked if we would have to wait long for our food. Not only did the restaurant cope with the influx but the... Hit or miss in many senses of the phrase but I will begin with the negatives; it really is only open strictly from 9-11pm for dinner service, is crowded quite instantly with walking tour groups (although it was the rowdy Englishmen on some sort of stag weekend who were vying pathetically loudly for each others attention that both totally ruined... The only good thing about this resturant was the polite servers and we did not wait long for each course to be served. The food was extremely salty and did not taste very fresh. The soup pasta shells were soggy and it was very salty, as if it was prepared the day before and had reduce down and overcooked the... More

Hidden in a very small street we discovered Can Culleretes, a traditional Barcelonese restaurant were you can get tapas, but also typical dishes. The ingredients are fresh and all top quality. But especially the paella of the house was addictive. The price/quality ratio was superb and the wines were accordingly.

I love this place. I come here for Sunday lunch every time I'm in Barcelona for the weekend. It's a proper old Barcelona staple, and it's full of tourists and locals alike. Traditional old decor and a very varied menu (there's a Sunday lunch special menu or you can eat a la carte). The service is exceptional - no nonsense,... More
