I had looked at Jai-Ca on tripadivisor and seen great reports. I like the area and we found it easily. The tapas were excellent. Staff we are helpful and friendly. It was very good value. The drinks were not expensive and we all enjoyed the restaurant.

We went with our two boys (9 and 11) - as we had been recommended this establishment as a family friendly tapas restaurant - we were impressed - really welcoming, lots of different tapas available and our fussiest son ate a plateful! Says it all really! We'll go back next time we visit Barcelona and hope we can get a... More

We ordered calamari rings, pickled sardines mussels in marinara sauce, cuttle fish and potato chips. The cuttle fish and the calamari were delicious, the mussels were just the best, we ordered another plate of potato chips just to dip it in the marinara sauce. We really didn't like the sardines, but minor. They didn't have an English menu for the... More

After reading such amazing views about Jai-ca in various guidebooks/blogs and recommendations, we were super excited about the prospect of delicious seafood and tapas in a local gem. I have never been so disappointed in my life, from the frosty welcome, the mess up on drinks order, the waiter scribbling on the menu to tell us what to have and... More

Jai-Ca is without a doubt one of my favourite places to go for tapas in Barcelona. Located just off the main strip in Barceloneta it is easy to walk to from las ramblas/born/gotico. It's a really chilled place in terms of being able to kick back and relax - they will not rush you even when they are busy and... More

First time in Barcelona and staying just around the corner from Jai-Ca. Food was delicious, the staff member that served us was really helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and even though really busy nobody rushed us to finish. Highly recommended

Always good, always busy always a good place to be with friends and enjoy some nice tapas. Be sure to check the second restaurant they have if the first one is full.

We popped in for a visit on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't too busy (apparently that's rare, considering we tried to go back but it was packed out). Ordered some seafood and were blown away by both the quality and the quantity! We also got some pardon peppers which were very freshly prepared and perfectly seasoned. I will visit... More

We came here around 9pm and the place was bustling with locals and tourists. It was not intimidatingly full like a few tapas restaurants we've been to. The food was well portioned and the seafood was very fresh. We got the mussels in marinara sauce and the serving was huge for 7.60 euros. Also had the fried cuttlefish and the... More

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighbourhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
