We just walked in because the place looked interesting. Turned out it's one of the oldest restaurants in the area and a local favourite. Hotel recommended Casa Agusti and we had walked past it for two days not considering it. A real surprise considering other poor options we had dropped it. Don't pass it up if you are near...

We were trying to escape the torrential rain, when we saw the welcoming entrance of the restaurant. The gazpacho soup was to die for, the main course melted in our mouth. Prices are average, but great quality and classy service.

Warmth. Incredible food. Impeccable service. An evening to remember. I'd forgotten how important it is to put my phone away and focus on life. This place reminded me of the simple connection between good people, lovingly prepared food, and the essence of living life to the fullest. Order the tripe. Drink another glass of wine. Smile.

Quiet cafe near the very heart of Barcelona, Pl. Catalunya. Very nice "retro" interior and kind of traditional atmosphere - and all these authentic. I have had there a breakfast for 6 days in a row in October (it opens very early - at 7:30 in the morning). I was pleasantly surprised by the food, atmosphere and price. The cafe... More

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
