Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The most authentic Mexican food we've found in Madrid at this family-run restaurant. Not at all like the Tex-Mex type of fast food places elsewhere. The food is always excellent and the staff attentive and proud of their high standards. We had the menu of...the day which was delicious. The cost was only a little above the local average, but well worth it.More

Decided to try mexican food for a change. Food was great, portions are good sized. Waiter was great, talkative and helpful. Menus are in spanish only, so it was a challenge with minimum spanish knowledge, but waiter is fluent in english so it was not...a problem to understand. Restaurant is cozy and clean.More

After spending a month in Spain, I craved for a different taste, different seasoning, so I went to Mestizo and ordered a couple of taco dishes as a "take-out" order. As I waited there for my order to arrive I just happened to say to...the host that I really wanted to have some rice and beans, something that was not included in my order.. It was a craving that I had had in the last week. When she handed me my order, she said, "I had some rice and beans added to your order." That was super nice on her part. As well, the food was DELICIOUS! Thank you for such a nice experience!More

This has definitely become my favourite Mexican restaurant in Madrid. You can make reservations online, there is an outdoor seating area and it's in a great location. I would have to say though, the best part about this restaurant is its staff. They are outstanding!!...We were served by an amazing Columbian lady, who was kind, friendly, who loved what she was doing. She also spoke English and Spanish. As a vegetarian, I struggle tremendously to find a good meal around Madrid but this restaurant has lots of great options and it was a breath of fresh air to have the waitress recommend a dish for me. The food was also delicious! I will definitely be returning and will strongly recommend it to others too!More

We went with a good friend from Mexico who had been there before and it was a nice surprise not only with the quality of the food, but also the price (unbeatable at 20 our each) and the live mariachi music. I guess this is...a place to go to if you are looking for an authentic mexican experience in MadridMore

Excellent Mexican food in Madrid! This small restaurant and bar is home to delicious Mexican food. The chips and guacamole were great. Several in our group enjoyed a fun taco box which was a make your own taco set-up. The service was okay but not...spectacular. The bar provided a variety of tequilas and cervezas. A fun night.More

It's been quite a long time since I haven't written any restaurant review, but Mestizo was such a pleasant surprise that I feel the need to tell everybody how good is this restaurant. I'm not rating it excellent because the deco is a little weak...and a cold air draft bothered my confort during the dinner. Beside that, the food was excellent. Staff was really nice and helped me choose the right dishes.More

We stopped here for brunch. We were told that we had only an hour to eat, so we had to rush through our meal. It was also quite expensive at about 20 euros a person. The choices at brunch were heavy on corn and somewhat...limited.More

Hi, Laura. Thank you so much for writing to us. Mestizo is a Mexican food restaurant, so most of our dishes are made of corn, but we also have vegetarian options. We hope you come back to have an incredible moment.

My wife and I chanced upon Mestizo today while walking around Madrid. What a find! Fine interior design. Quiet. Extremely good service. And, above all, wonderful food. We each had the daily special (menu del dia?) which came with an appetizer, an entree, a wonderful...dessert (I had flan, while my wife had cake dappled with a wonderful cinnamon scented sauce) and a drink (my wife chose a wonderful dry white winefrom northern Spain). All the portions were generous but not excessive. There was also a small supplemental pulled pork appetizer gratis. Truly an excellent value at 12.50 Euros. One of the best meals we have had in a long timeMore

This restaurant was so great, that out of the 5 days we spent in madrid we went 4 times, three times to eat and 1 to drink at night, as a Mexican living in Paris i've missed mexican food SO MUCH, and this restaurant has...been basically the only one in Europe I've found where the mole tastes better than the one my mom makes. So, recommended totally, and if you go, order enchiladas de mole. Also, if you wanna have a taste of a REAL tequila, order a shot of maestro tequilero diamante, thank me later. Oh and the service, completely mexican, nice people, kind waitress, funny chef, everything was perfect! thank you!More

Excellent place where you can enjoy the tradition dishes from Mexico, and try their local coucine with their ingredients, they have a great selection of spice chilles if you fancy of some Rock&Roll in your food. Drinks are great and the drink menu has multiples...choices. Service is friendly and gave us good recommendations. They serve the food dish by dish, so you can enjoy all the dishes without worry you about they would get cold.More

Mestizo was unlike many restaurants and operated from late afternoon through the early evening when others were not operating so it was a convenient spot for a drink and a snack when late night " Spanish style" dining was not the preferred option. Food was...good quality reasonably authentic Mexican, service was fine, atmosphere was good and overall a good experience.More
